I just received the email yesterday that said I met the qualifications and have joined the pool of candidates for the CR03 position that was first posted in October. Valid until March/13. Does anyone know if they are done hiring for this tax season and when the next round of hiring is likely to be? The email gives almost no information at all.
I am new to the whole government job posting circus and have been shocked as to how long everything takes! Thought I was applying for this tax season but am wondering now if that isn't the case.
I'd appreciate any info anyone can pass along.

Anyone???
I just got the same e-mail today. I did my writing test in November and all the other tests in jan 2012. The only problem i have is that i've spent only one year in canada and they might want to do a reliability screening background check which usually takes a while cause it will involve my home country. I really need this job. Pls let me know if you have any info regarding the background check
Thanks
BJ

I received a phone call yesterday informing me that in order to complete my security screening I had to be fingerprinted. I went down and had that done this morning. I asked the security guy who did the fingerprinting about how long it takes for the fingerprints to be processed. His answer was "Anywhere from a few weeks to a few months".
Uh huh. So now we wait again. And as we wait for that the time left to be in the pool just gets shorter and shorter and shorter.............

Woow! I better start doing this before i get the call... i did one some months back, i dont know if it will still be valid, i think its better i do another so i dont get burnt. where did you do urs? RCMP? Its also sad we dont have an exampler for timeline, i mean from the forum...so we can at least prepare for the next stage which i learnt from other forums (not winnipeg tax station) that they might still do an interview. I really hope not!

I had the finger printing done right at the Winnipeg taxation building. They process everything themselves.
I find the whole process interesting actually. Thousands of people apply for these jobs. At each step of the process more and more are cut or drop out. Have to wonder how many actually do it all and could actually be hired in the end? And how many of those people are even going to want the job another 6 months or a year down the road?
Can anyone give us any info as to what your timeline was like in regards to taking a term position with CRA?

I haven't heard from them regarding the fingerprints, but i got a mail asking for proof of accounting. They were asking for my transcript to show i've completed intro. to accounting or FA1 from CGA and there was a deadline of march 29,2012 to send it to them.
Faken..... pls tell us more!

You're pretty much verifying documentations and filing. Good thing about it is, you get to listen to music while working ;). A friend is still there.. he keeps complaining to me lol.

So, how does their selection works?
Written exam-> interview -> Pool -> security check( only in the ones they r hiring)
OR
Written ex-> interview -> security check( everyone) -> pool

For me it went: Written exam (x3), security, pool. I have not had an interview.
Honestly, I don't know if there is a standard process. Seems to be a lot of conflicting info.

no interview???? !!!! and u r in the qualified pool of candidates??? wow, lucky you!!!!
This is my steps: written exam-> interview -> pool -> a call to confirm my interest ( 2 months after placement into the pool) -> a call abt my DOB and eas told the security check started. Now i am waiting again lol i duno if its s good sign for me...i mean, according to my situation, it looks like they only contact and conduct background check on the people they r interested in from the pool.
im just crossing my fingers here

Yes, I thought it was weird that there was no interview. They did check all of my references though.
At this point I am just following this process to satisfy my curiosity. After 3 months of unemployment I just signed my contract for my new job that I start in a few weeks. Unlikely (unless it doesn't go well or something), I would quit this new job for a term with CRA.
The process is ridiculous as far as I'm concerned. You jump through hoop after hoop attending all these meetings and tests, and missing all kinds of time from work/school in the process and in the end the odds of anything happening are slim to none.

Well, I quit my full-time job for a government term position last year. I was a new grad and was doing CSR at RBC, the experience I gained at the government position was very valuable and changed my resume from 'customer service' to something more professional.
Depends on what you r doing now, and what kind of experience you are looking for, CRA could be a valuable experience for ya.

I did not do an interview either, but was invited to the pool... i believe there is a process for each job index. i'm so ready to leave my full time job for the cra job but i'm wondering why were so in the dark.

Does anyone one have an idea of when recruitment will start for the next tax season in winnipeg?
