Passing through Kingston on Monday and won't have more than a few hours to rest. Would appreciate any reccomendations for a casual place to have lunch and a good park or somewhere the kids (9 and 6) can stretch their legs and blow off some energy.

If you're coming from 401 get off at Sir John A MacDonald exit and then turn left when you hit the end of the Sir John A to get to King Street. That is the famous home of Paul Barnardo aka Kingston Penitentiary. Go down King St E and you'll hit the City Park. You can eat lunch there and let the kids play. It's a nice park that's pretty big. As to places to eat, you can go down King St and see what you like on Princess St. There are a lot of choices on Princess to choose from, Works, MacDonalds, fancier places etc. Personally I really like Olivea that's on King St E but if you got kids they might not like it as much. If you really like pizza I highly suggest gourmet pizza at Woodenheads on Ontario St as they got AMAZING pizza!

Enjoy and hopefully these suggestions help. :)

EDIT: just realized the date of your posts. Hope you had a good time in Kingston.
