Hello,

My husband and I are planning a west coast trip this summer. We live in Toronto and are planning to drive from Toronto to Vancouver. Thr first half of our trip from Toronto to Edmonton is just two, and the
2nd half (Edmonton to Vancouver) will be with friends.

My husband and I plan to take the Trans Canada highway on the way and the US route (Montana, Dakota etc) on the way back. Distance wise I know that the total trip from Toronto to Vancouver takes about 52 hours for the Canada route and 42 hours for the US route. We figure this trip will take 3 or 3.5 weeks to do (assuming stoppages for food, sleep and sightseeing.)

What I wanted to know though is if anyone has done this trip before and what they can recommend for sightseeing or stops---along the way, either in Canada or the US?

Also, has anyone had issues with border crossings in the States? I heard there are times for border crossings and some of the states routes have tolls.

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you!!! :)
