I know this is last year's model, and will be is going off the market, so if anyone sees either the UN46D6420 (Future Shop exclusive, I think) or UN46D6500 on sale for $900-ish I would really like to know about it.

Well, or any other highly-recommended 46" LED-lit 3D tv, either with passive or active viewing.... thanks in advance.

I would wait if you can. New models are coming out soon, so prices will either drop on the older models or better options will be available.

If you can't wait and you're stuck on LED, then either TV will be essentially the same. I think the D6500 has a qwerty keyboard remote, has built in wifi and skype capabilities. You might also want to look at the Sony EX720, or LG LW5600 (passive).

If you want the best TV that can be found for <900, the Panasonic 50ST30 is probably the best performing set in that price range if you can find one. The ST50 should be released sometime this month or the next, so you should be able to get a good price on one.
The Samsung 51D550 is also good.

We got a 42" Samsung at Future Shop for ~$830 at a sale price, although 46" Sharp was being sold for ~$880 at deal prices.

I'll look into those but my usage application is as a computer monitor for work and play; it is on all day and I can not afford the electricity bills for a plasma, and have a 40" CCFL lit LCD there now and will barely have room for the 46" but it's only 3 inches bigger what with the thinner bezels on the newer models.
