Why do people bother posting on Kijiji when they don't reply to emails or calls. In the last week I sent out 6 emails/calls for 6 different items and only got 1 email reply a week later. And yes, the email address is good and no emails went to my spam folder.

1) because people lack manners
2) they sold it already and lack manners
3) they still have it but are too lazy to sell it and lack manners
4) they got too many responses (15+?) to reply to but forgot to take down the ad because they are lazy or lack manners.

It's very common when people sell their items, they do not respond to any other emails. I think, they should remove their ads if they already sold their items. What's the point of keeping the ads active after they are already gone.

That is a jerk comment and that is not strictly who Kijiji is for.
The OP has a good reason to express frustration if a lot of people are not responding to queries to the ads they placed. Maybe you are one of those people and took offense? I dont know.

I only have this problem when I respond to old posts. I pretty much stick to posts that were posted in the last few days and always get replies back. Make sure your questions are relevant and not just "is this available?" and you are more likely to get a reply as well.
I always reply with something like "If this is still available I'd like to purchase it for $XXX and we can meet on this day at this time or another day."

I responded to an ad for a motorcycle. I asked to arrange a meet, he agreed. I told him I would like to see the bike "cold" start. He said he doesn't plan on putting the battery in the bike until April 1st. Unless he gets a deposit on the bike. I told him I would not put a deposit on a bike that I have not seen running in person.
He should post his ad in April when the bike is running.

I have done this in the past. I sometimes sell Leafs tickets on Kijiji, normally for face value. I will quite often get 30+ replies. If I sell them early in the process, I delete the ad and often don't bother replying to all the e-mails, it's just too much of a pain.

I would rather see that then people leaving ads on for days and forget it.

Some people don't check their email every day, some people are disorganized, some people are lazy, some people can't figure out how to delete their old ads, some people ignore 'do you still have it' emails, some people ignore txtspeak emails, some people won't bother emailing back because they are waiting for the first couple of people that emailed to get back to them, yadda yadda yadda....
Eh, what can you do? Try the next ad, and don't worry about it too much.

Yeah, but at least you delete the ad when the item is sold, in this case I wouldn't mind at all. The ad is gone, I'd assume that it was sold, ok fine. But, in my case, all 6 items are still advertised for sale and no replies. I replied to the one email that was a week later saying that I would take it and the guy didn't even bother to reply back. Go figure.

What Kijiji should do to resolve this is offer some sort of mass message option that lets you message all people that contacted you in regards to a certain ad to let them know it has been sold.

People can just simply delete their ad when it is sold.
Problem is, a lot don't. And that is why whenever you post something on kijiji, you get a million of these messages - "still available?".

That's true, but it's also not always possible to get on the internet every day. I'm a shift worker, so I'm either off work for extended periods, or at work for extended periods. So due to work it could be 2 days before I get on the internet. Or if it's summer, I don't want to be inside on the internet, I'm out hiking, swimming, camping, kayaking, etc.
So in this case of a high demand item like Leafs tickets, I'll receive 50+ e-mails in a 48 hour period, and I simply don't have the time to get on the internet and delete the ad the very second I sell them, nor can I always respond to everyone who contacts me. I check my e-mail on my phone so I can sell the tickets through my phone, but I don't bother with mobile sites as I find very few of them work proper anyway, which is why I can't delete my ad through my phone.

Even if that was true it was still a jerk comment. But it is not true:
What if I want to buy a toy that is no longer available in stores? A car part that is no longer made? old style furniture? Avoid scalper for Leaf tickets? Avoid scalper for concert tickets? A beater bike to ride around that won't get stolen? What if I don't like the idea of having new product created when I can reuse something that is just as good, why does it have to be new? People also attempt to give away stuff before sending it to the landfill.

Did you read my post at all? I said I normally do delete my ad's, but there are times when I'm not home and can't do it. I will complete the deal via e-mail through my phone. I don't go on Kijiji through my phone. The Kijiji app for my iPhone doesn't work at all and the mobile site is a PITA. Yeah, that's one option. Or I could just accept the fact that there will be the odd time where I'm away for a few days and don't get around to deleting my Kijiji ads. Oh wait, I already accepted it and am perfectly fine with it. So I think I'll keep my phone as it works far better than that POS Samsung Galaxy ever did.

Not being able to delete your own ad due to sheer laziness is a poor excuse. If you had time to create the listing onn Kijiji/Craigslist (approx. 1 to X amount of minutes, depending on how much effort you're willing to put into it), then you have the time to spend one minute to log into your account and delete the posting. You'll save the time spent on rejecting/ignoring people's requests by deleting the listing in the first place. Sellers that complain that they receive too many emails after the fact deserve it because they didn't bother to delete their listing. There's no such thing as being too late to delete your listing, so being away from your computer for a certain period of time does not excuse you from deleting it once you get home or whatever. Any other excuse is a cause of dilberate neglectfulness.

I don't know if this is directed at me or not, if it is, read my posts again. I said I always delete my ads when I get an opportunity, which is usually immediately after I sell the item(s). The odd time however, I may be away from home for a few days, which is normally when i get overrun with e-mails. In those cases, I don't respond to every e-mail as there's too many of them. I of course delete my ad when I get home.
I agree with your post though.

It was a business suggestion to improve the service and get more customers. You sound as if you were the one that would have to do the work.
Sorry for not sugarcoating it for you.
It was nothing to do with sugar coating it. You have a narrow view of who and who should not use kijiji and have less a sense of manners than most. Your post lacked relevance because of that narrow view (see earlier for other types of purchases available on kijiji). If you are a person that is too busy for manners in real life then people (sales people, co-workers and others) call you a jerk behind your back on a regular basis and often won't treat you well. You just don't know it.
I am not about to say that if you didn't like my post then don't read it.....that would be jerky wouldn't it? I am not saying you are a jerk...I am just saying that the post was jerky.
Then be ready to deal with the inconvenience caused by your special needs. And if kijiji is not for you then try ebay or RFD BST.
Since when are basic manners a special need? The world needs manners and developed cultures have them. Do you go through life not saying hello, goodbye, thank-you? Do you like it when people do not acknowledge you when you address them? For most the answer to those questions is "no".
I am far from being a Martha Stuart and often don't send christmas cards or thank you letters, but dang, I do acknowledge people feel bad if I left them hanging (which I rarely do).
