View Full Version : Corrupted JPG files?

Hopefully somebody here can help. I downloaded pictures off my camera the other day, and the first 35 were fine, but the other ~270 images now won't open! There were no error messages during the download, I don't think I interrupted the download, and all the files do have an appropriate file size. I've already tried adding/changing the .jpg extension but that didn't work. The images don't open with any of the basic software. Of course I had the "delete from camera" option checked as well.
Some of these photos are very important....help?

What happens when you try to open/view them? Does it give a message?
Which programs did you try?
Any way you could upload one of them to an FTP server or something so we could download it and see it?

It just says the program does not support the file type.

Won't let me download the file from that site. I also won't load the image either.

Hmmm, tried zipping the image file and the zip file was only 4kb, I'm guessing these files are empty. :o
Crap, now I gotta try recovering the images off the SD card. Dammit, this had pictures of my first child's birth.

There's a bunch of SD card recovery programs out there. I bought one called CardRecovery and it worked fine for me. Downside is the cost, about $40. :|
