Can anyone tell me the value of the original Star Wars movie posters? These are the ones distributed to movie theaters during the original releases. There's 3 different ones for each movie. I've searched everywhere! This is purely out of curiosity after remembering a friend of mine (who's uncle was responsible for distributing the reels across western canada) showed me boxes and boxes of these original posters in her basement. All laid flat, not rolled. I'd say there's atleast 2000 of each poster. I want to convince her to sell it and retire :)

List on ebay. I'm sure some guy sitting at home wearing a Chewbacca mask with Cheez Whiz stains on it will bid.

This ebay auction (http://www.ebay.com/itm/STAR-WARS-77-21-0-HAIRY-BELT-ORIGINAL-BOOTLEG-MOVIE-POSTER-CineMasterpieces-/180747549765?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a1564bc45) has a lot of info about Star Wars posters and bootlegs. They mention original posters selling for $1500, though a search of completed listings shows prices ranging between $40 and $300 depending on condition and authenticity.
Of course, if you try to dump 2000 of them on the market I would see the value dropping very rapidly.

Holy crap... I don't know why I wasn't able to find prices on originals myself, just reprints.

If these actually sell for that price.. I can't imagine what she could end up doing

This type of stuff takes a real nosedive during recessions though.
But you never know. It just takes 1 nerd with money burning a hole in his pocket.

Crap prequels like "The Phantom Menace" hardly helps.

ugh...dont remind me! Lucas never learns...he places awesome amazing characters in his movie as a teaser and then never develops them and hardly even gives them any lines (Boba Fett, Darth Maul). Id rather watch a movie about those 2 guys than watch that fat little turd Anakin race around in circles for 30mins while Rasta Binks stutters cheesy one-liners.
TBH, things started going down hill in the franchise with the Ewoks.

The prequels never happened the series ends with Return of the Jedi.

I had this cardboard foldout promo thing that had a big "Revenge of the Jedi" logo, but my brother threw it out :(. Would be worth $$$.

If it was a full size "standee" then yes, worth lots of dough.

You have to give an appearance of there being limited quantity:
-They cannot be sold in any type of quantity on Ebay
-They cannot repeatedly appear on ebay.
-Sell a few here
-Sell a few there
-sell them in different countries
-or sell them for 30% off to a wholesale guy
One reason diamonds are worth so much is because the diamond producers hoard the diamonds and let them trickle into the market.
If there are 2000 in mint condition then I would say you are looking at about $300K - $400K (I know just about zilch about collectables) unless she plans on selling them over a decade or so. Off course there is the question....are they really hers or can someone else claim them?

It just folded out to approximately the size of two legal-sized folders, with a big red Revenge logo. I can't remember what were on the other panels, but I think some photos. It wasn't something that would pay off the mortgage, but I'm sure anything with "Revenge" would get me some party money :).
PS. Moving sucks. That's when a lot of good stuff gets thrown away :(.
