Hi all, I'm in contact with John at Auto-Links to start a new Group Buy for 2012
We're going to Auto-Links in Scarborough for a window tint Group buy. The previous group buys have all been with John at Auto-links and there has been nothing but good reviews about this place. So i'm organizing one for late march, early april. lets get it going RFD
Since we have over 20 cars, i will no longer be updating the list, pls read the bolded part to get in on the group buy pricing.
***PLS READ IF YOU WANT TO TAKE PART***: the group buy pricing is good to go, we have over 20 cars so start calling john to book your appointment, make sure you reference the RFD group buy. the group buy is still open to other people, give john a call to book your appointment and mention the group buy.
Update on Pricing, some of you have ask about the 2011 pricing or a better deal for the group buy, I just spoke with John, he have indicated his pricing is very competitive and its true, you guys can shop around. But anyhow, John has agree to sweeten the group buy to $30 for Pinnacle, Classic remains at $20

That's pretty much the reason why I'm putting 30 on the front windows and 15 around the back. Cops need to be able to see the driver. Drove around for 11+ years this way without hassle... pulled over lots but never any mention of the tint.

Cool. 30 it is then.
Do these guy tint under the brake lamp and offer mole skin as well? Apparently the fit is very tight in the doors for my car and without the mole skin, the tint scratches very easily.
Edit: seems like they will do the brake lamp properly.

never had a problem. I guess it's also depending on how you drive. LOL

I noticed from 2011 GB, the Classic for 4 dr was $150 w/ GB discount.
http://forums.redflagdeals.com/auto-links-window-tint-group-buy-2011-book-your-appt-now-1016064/
This year, it came to $160. So can they still do last year's price or this is the new price?

I'm down. 2008 Acura TSX, 4Dr. Deciding between Pinnacle 30 or 35. Can any of you speak to night-time visibility with 30 or 35 tint? Is either okay, or is there a noticeable difference? Car is black on black, if that makes a difference. Want privacy and some heat absorption, but don't want to sacrifice night time visibility. Anyone here cares to chime in? Thanks for organizing.

IMO 35 and 30 offer very good visibility at night. I got 30 on my fronts and 15 on my backs....i can still see just fine with 15. the issue is though at night its harder for people to see inside your car with 15 compared to a 30%, so i opted for 30 only to try and avoid any police issues. Personally i wouldn't do 35 unless you want to drive with a light tint...evening wise no big difference,
hope that helps

thanks, that does help. based on what you describe, it sounds like it is easier to see inside-out vs. outside-in. i'll most likely go with 30 then. thanks!

Didn't you post the same thing a few days ago? Have you approached John about this issue yet?
I had my car tinted last year (getting my other ride tinted next week) and I had been very satisfied with his quality of work and customer service. Looks like most of the RFDers have had nothing but good experiences as well.

How long did you wait in between before letting John know of the problem with the tint ? Also, how was the situation approached ? Did you do anything else as soon as John refused the warranty ?
I've never had a problem with his tinting services and he has tinted three of my cars, a few friends' cars, and also my aunt and uncle's cars and they're very happy with the tinting. Regardless of whether or not it's an isolated incident, are there parts of the story missing ?

Understandably, the prices have gone up, (as has his business), but something i noticed is that same level of attention to detail, time wise, isn't there as was the case in his old shop (single garage). To be specific, it took an hour to do tints in the old shop (still happy with the tint work/service and its held up perfectly), whereas in the new one it seemed like it takes about only 30 minutes or so. I am curious to know if that's what others have noticed?
Also i emailed john about username333's issue, no response. As an aside (of issues i encountered), i would like to point is that in the past 3 times i have been there, i always encountered loose trim. It's not a big deal as its something that can be fixed easily, but going back to username333's issue, i would be leery of sending people (two friends with TL and Type-S are looking to get tints done soon) to John if that much dust and debris is considered to be under the acceptable level of tolerance.
Lifetime warranty is no good if it doesn't cover labour, which is the issue here (the actual material is cheap and easily replaceable).

Keep us posted. I want to hear John's side of the story before I can decide whether or not to cancel my appointment.

Originally had mine down for the premium 30 ceramic @ Auto-Links as per this group buy. While the issues and stories posted in this thread might be a rare/seperate incident, that was enough to have me looking elsewhere.
Went to Audio Heaven instead. Got the basic Solar Guard NR Smoke Plus. About $20 more versus Auto-Link's basic alternative (F1 classic series). Didn't have any specials going on. Anyway, Audio Heaven's attention to detail = above and beyond. They took their time with the tint (about an hour and a half) and explained everything to me. Jeffery and his staff were friendly and courteous. Will bring my parents car there next time. :)
Edit: Jeffery also asked me about my dashcam (Blackvue groupbuy!). Apparently they have been doing tons of installs for this particular dash cam. I told him about pintobean's successful groupbuy, haha. Didn't ask him as to how much he charged though per install.

Thank you Zzz3 for bringing to my attention the recent concern from Username333, I would like to address a couple points:
- Every tint shop does give a 5% allowance in any film installation. The film installation is a very delicate process. We do take extreme care and attention in cleaning every vehicle. However, some vehicles that are very dusty and dirty may have a higher tolerance due to some areas of the window that are not accessible for cleaning.
- This is our 6th year in operation. I have always and will always stand behind our product and workmanship. Our Formula One film is a top of the line product that comes with manufacturer lifetime warranty. We provide 10 years warranty on labour. However, as with any installation, there will always be a chance for installation error. In this event, we simply ask that we be notified immediately and we will always replace the tint as necessary.
- This vehicle was brought back almost 1 year after the installation date makes it very difficult for us to resolve any issues. I am sure if you purchase any other product or service, if there is any defects it would be normal to attend to this immediately. I apologize we were unable to come to a resolution for the dust in your rear window, however as a small business owner, we will not tolerate any threats from customers towards myself, my employees, or my business as this is unacceptable in any business environment. The way you chose to handle the situation after I asked you to leave my establishment was very immature, by locking yourself in your vehicle and idling your vehicle in my install bay for a 2 hour period. The only way I got you to leave was after the police were called to my location, where you then proceeded to peel your vehicle out of my bay and parking lot in a dangerous manner.
As I am the owner and operator, I always stand behind MY work. I do not outsource my installations as I do take pride in the work my team and I perform. Any one who has done business with me knows that I take extreme care in my installations and also taking care of my customers. I understand you are unhappy with the result of our work but if you chose to resolve this in an appropriate manner we could have had this situation resolved 2 summers ago when you had the original installation done. I do try my absolute BEST to ensure every customer is happy, but a line has to be drawn when my business, my personal well-being, or my own employees' well-being is threatened.
My team and I have worked extremely hard, our workmanship has been through screening processes in order to become one of three exclusive GTA Formula One dealers, and as a small business owner I understand that we will not be able please 100% of our customers. Due to the nature of the business, we always have customers that may not be 100% satisfied, and I will always do my best to ensure that things are resolved accordingly. However, demanding and threatening me the way you did, I do not think anyone or any business would tolerate.
- Finally regarding Zzz3's concerns: I think you may have us confused with another shop, the turnaround time on a tint has never been 1 hour or less. We normally allocated between 2-3 hours for a complete tint installation. Also, my technicians and I always thoroughly inspect every vehicle, every window, and every panel before a vehicle leaves. As I do all of the film installations personally, there will never be any variance in the install time or install quality.
Hope that helps,
If you wish to promote other shops, I can let you know ALL of the top shops in the GTA we always encourage every customer to shop around !! No other film compares to the Formula One Pinnacle tint, it is the best on the market, we always advise everyone against any dyed film (Sungard, Solargard, F1 Classic series, etc) as it WILL fade over time!

I would just like to add here, that last weekend I chose to have my father's 02 Trans Am tinted at Auto-Links. It had a prior tint job, that had faded over time, and had become damaged.
He opted for the 15% Pinnacle tint, and we had both driver's side and passenger side window's retinted. They did an excellent job, they quoted 2-3 hours, Car was dropped off at 11am, and we received a phone call at 2pm that the car was ready. When we arrived, Cody, one of their technician's, was extremely professional in walking around the car with us, and going through maintenance. The job was stellar, and I am planning on having my vehicle retinted there as well.
Should also note I wasn't aware of a group buy last weekend, but even then, the price's (especially when compared to other shops) were extremely reasonable, even more so on the less-expensive end.
Thanks John, Cody, and everyone else at Auto-Links. We are happy customers!

Thanks for addressing the issues, John. I won't go into detail about my concerns (it was a G37 coupe), as the overall experience in each one of my visits has been positive all things considered. As for my friends with the pair of TLs, i will let them reach their own conclusions. Hopefully, we will see you in the summer...

I love John and Cody. They did a great job tinting my mustang...took longer then expected but wasn't too concerned about time. As I told John and Cody take the whole day, just do a great job on the tint, which john assured me they would do.
I recently over the winter got my entire car repainted and there was over-spray on the back windows. Something I new about before bringing it to the shop. Cody spent extra time on my car cleaning each window and removing any over-spray. He would have easily left it alone and proceeded to help John with the install. They were both very professional. I took my car home and was amazed. The next morning there were many bubbles in my driver window and I panicked since none of the other windows had any. I called John and he assured me that this was normal and because it was still cool outside it would take 1-2 weeks for the water in between the tint and the window to evaporate. He said if it doesn't clear up after 2 weeks come back and we can take a look. Then he proceeded to ask me how my car was and if the tint was to my expectation.
Very impressed with the shop. after doing a lot of searching and research over the net as to who and where a good tint shop was I'm EXTREMELY HAPPY I chose Auto-Links. They will definitely have my repeat business and i wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone.
Thanks John and Cody

here is another review from my home forum by a member
i first read about a denial of warranty a couple years back on the Prelude forums --> Here (http://www.hondaprelude.to/forums/showthread.php?116865-One-Bad-Experience-at-Auto-Links-%28TPC-Affiliate%29)
In that case, the owner noticed bubbles and waited to bring it in because 1) initial correspondence via email with John said to wait and see if they go away and 2) the owner was busy and couldn't bring it in until a year later (thinking he had a lifetime warranty).
The conversation is outlined in the thread but it basically boiled down to John saying "why did you wait so long?" and after a year, there was nothing he could do.
Seeing as how MPS got basically the same response, it raises the question...
what good is the "10 year warranty on labour" when 2 separate cases have been denied after 1 year?
I've never dealt with Auto-Links as my cars were tinted by Lazer Tint, Thornhill Tint, and Audio Heaven before Auto-Links was around ...but, i've referred a number of friends and family in Scarborough to Auto-Links and this has me questioning my decision to do so - if they ever have an issue and it ends up like these 2 cases, it makes me look bad for referring them there.

Auto-links has tinted 3 cars for me and I've been very happy with the results. The quality of the installation and the product (Pinnacle is what I picked) is one of the best in town. I've sent a number of others to their shop and all of them have been very happy with the results too.
I am very surprised to see a comment like "40% dust and bubbles" (is that even possible???). I've personally seen John redo many windows during his installation process because of a little spec of dust or small scratch. His attention to detail is excellent.
I have a friends car scheduled for next week and have no concerns that the tint job will be great.
Thanks for the 2012 group buy!

Hello fellow RFDers , thank you all again for your continued patronage, friendship, and support.
Sorry to drag this situation on, I was intending on no longer responding to this matter, however after receiving many calls & emails from many of my past customers to notify me of this ongoing matter (thank you all!!!), and discussing the situation further with my team, I would like to address the vehicle in question one more time:
- How many people are posting under this account? (username333?) Is this even your vehicle that you are posting about? (Are those even pictures of your car?!)
- Are you sure you did not have this installation done at another shop? We have never charged anywhere CLOSE to $400 that you claim you have paid. We started off our ceramic film at $260 3 years ago when we first brought it in, the pricing has only gone up $20 / year due to increase in material costs.
- After reviewing through our records numerous times there is no record of your vehicle, none of my employees or myself remember your vehicle coming in aside from the time you came for the rear window inspection. At that time you did not present any warranty card or invoice to me,
- I know you have posted one of our warranty cards there, but that is one of our recent warranty cards and that would not have been issued to you 3 years ago (I could be mistaken, if you can post the vehicle details shown in under the warranty cover)
- I am also very confused, if my shop did do this installation 3 years ago, why would you wait until 1 year to bring the vehicle in for inspection (it was March of 2011 when you brought your vehicle in) , and then wait another year to post on the forums in order to try to get a resolution and slander my company?
Anyway, if I am mistaken, and we did do the installation on your vehicle, you would have been notified at the end of install (we spend 10-15 minutes with every customer explaining the care/cleaning/maintenance of the film) that if there are any install errors that it is necessary to bring it back immediately for inspection or replacement. We use the top of the line film and after the adhesives are settled (1-2 months) it is extremely strong (designed to last the life of the vehicle!) and very difficult to remove.
This is very similar to the situation as you have referenced from the Toronto Prelude Club, however you have not read the thread properly as although that customer did have an issue, he was NOT denied, I offered to him on his initial phone call as well as on the forum for him to bring his vehicle in for inspection and replacement if necessary. Also as I mentioned on the Prelude Club, the film we use is very strong, after any extended period the tint removal is extremely difficult and especially dangerous on the rear window as there is a chance that the rear defrost lines can be adhered to the film and damaged once the film is removed.
Finally, a couple points regarding our warranty:
- Formula One provides lifetime warranty on the film (cracking, crazing, delamination, color changing)
- Our 10 year labour warranty covers install errors (peeling or bubbling), or film defect under the Formula One program. There are NO charges to the customer for ANY warranty claims like many other shops
As I have mentioned in my prior post, window film installation is a very delicate process. We do take every possible step to ensure that we have a clean environment and that every window on every vehicle is fully cleaned before film installation. Every tint shop has bad reviews, in fact every business will have a bad review. I could link negative reviews to EVERY tint shop that I have referenced above (top Toronto tint shops). I don't expect to go through 6 years in business and and not have an unhappy customer. For the RFD community alone we have done over 1000 vehicles over the last 3 years and have 100% POSITIVE feedback.
Thank you again very much to RFD members as well as on the other forums who have help me in this matter.
Again, to those who are considering window film for your vehicle, please do your research!

Many thanks to John and his team at Auto-Links for hooking up my friend's car with the ceramic tints ! She couldn't be any happier with the service and attention her car received the entire time. I actually managed to take a look also at her car today and it looks amazing to say the least... totally makes the car look much better. She also said she appreciates the refreshments in the lounge area !
I have one more car I want to send to you guys for tinting. Hope to expect the same care and quality of service on this one as well. So far, everyone I've referred including my family members are satisfied with the work done on their cars. Keep up the good work !

I can't comment on the on-going dispute, but personally, I've never had a problem getting my tints or alarm/remote starter installed at Auto-Links. The rear window on my Genesis Coupe is a pain in the ***** to clean, let alone install tint, but John did an amazing job. For anyone on the fence between 30% and 15% ceramic, go 15%, you won't regret it. It looks great, keeps the car cool, and I've never had a problem getting pulled over for it being too dark.

got both my vehicle and brother's vehicle tinted by Auto-Links over the weekend. Once again John and his staff did an amazing job, took thier time, nothing was rush.
my brother and I originally was going to go with the Classic film, as both our vehicles were lease, when we got to Auto-Links, we just inquire what the main difference was, John took his time explaing the difference and showed us under the solar heat lamp the difference in heat temperature. John showed us the difference in shades with different vehicles, John's own car look amazing. John didn't push us in anyway to go with the Pinnacle, but we were both convince it is the better choice. my brother end up tinting Pinnacle 30% all around and I went with Pinnacle 30/15.
Both cars look amazing and huge difference in heat reduction now.
Once again, I would like to express that I have previously had my previous car tinted by Auto-Links, all experience have been nothing but positive. Any future vehicle that requires tinting will be done by Auto-Links, I am totally confident in John and his staff at Auto-Links.
I'm glad I started this year's group buy, and would highly recommend all those who participate to write up their experience and review here also.
One more thing, new location is fantastic, shop is newly renovated, nice comfortable louge, free wifi, satellite tv and free water/coffee, makes the wait time much more pleasant.
John, keep up the good work, you know lots of loyal customers are out there, and we all appreciate your work!

+1 for John and his crew. I had my Corolla tinted by him last year and I was thoroughly impressed by his quality of workmanship. I had my Genesis Coupe tinted by him almost 2 weeks ago and once again he did a fantastic job! Btw this is Pinnacle 30% (not dark but not too light - a perfect balance in between. At certain light angles it does look light but in person it's an entirely different story.

Got my windows tinted at Auto-Links last week on my Astra. My only complaint is that we had to wait an hour past my appointment time because they were busier than expected. But they were very apologetic, and there's a TV with comfortable couches, and some free Tasimo coffee or tea available, so it wasn't that big a deal for me anyhow. But I'm very pleased with the tint job they did. My driver side window had a very small chip in it, that is a small blemish as a result, but it was shown and explained to me. They are very friendly guys who do a great job. It was a pleasure getting my tint job done there, despite the delay. Great job John and Steve!

Hello,
and thank you all for considering us for our 2012 RFD group buy.
Here are some images and information of our new Llumar Airblue 80 line up we have brought in for our customers who were extremely concerned about UV rays however did not want to lose any visibility:
http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f142/burn7/flyer.jpg
While other films employ very dark tinting to achieve similar levels of heat rejection, using Nano-ceramic technology AIR Blue's color is light enough to meet visible-light transmission laws nationwide. Its optical clarity and low reflectivity will not interfere with night driving. With AIR Blue in place, you and your car's interior will be shielded from the effects of solar radiation— and your car will be cooler, as well. Especially with the recent warnings with the depletion of the ozone layer, the sun`s rays become more and more dangerous as we make our daily commutes. Not only does AIR Blue provide a nice blue appearance on your glass, it will protect you and your loved ones for the life of your vehicle!
Cool as ice: The subtle, ice-blue shade of AIR Blue film enhances your car's appearance on the outside and your car's comfort on the inside.
Extraordinary protection:
AIR Blue film provides extreme solar protection without dark tinting.
The sun's visible and infrared (IR) rays can cause the temperature inside your car to become unbearably hot. But more importantly, harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays can also cause irreversible damage to vehicle interiors — and to human skin.
AIR BLUE is an automotive film that provides extremely effective protection against the UV and IR rays that penetrate ordinary window glass. Testing in harsh climates has shown that installing AIR Blue film can keep your car's interior surfaces as much as 16°C cooler.
Lower Temperatures Lower Cooling Costs
In these times of high fuel prices, every opportunity for savings is important. By reducing the interior temperature of your car, AIR Blue can reduce the need to run your vehicle's cooling system, and that helps your car burn less fuel Testing in harsh climates has shown that installing AIR Blue film can keep your car's interior surfaces as much as 30°F cooler.
Advanced Technology
The most high-tech accessory on your car has no moving parts. The incredibly advanced AIR Blue film uses nano-ceramic technology to achieve its extraordinary level of protection. This protection has been specially designed with your car's electronic accessories in mind: AIR Blue film does not interfere with cell phones, radios, radar detectors, or global positioning systems.

Got the windows on my new Golf R tinted back in April. They did a great job and I have no issue with the workmanship. However, if you plan to wait on site for it to get done, remember to bring along a book or a laptop because it is going to be a long wait. They didn't start working on my car until I asked them about when it would be ready more than an hour after I'd dropped off the key. I got there at 2 PM (booked appointment) and by the time the car was ready it was well after 7 PM. John cares about his quality of work and had to redo the rear hatch window at one point to make it perfect. At the end they compensated my wait time with a sample can of window cleaner. So, my advice is that if you can drop off the car there for a day or two and save yourself some waiting time that would be the best.

Got the Pinnacle 30% installed this weekend... it looked great even after 1 day of curing. Can't say enough good things about the shop - meticulous work; very clean shop; things explained very well; very friendly atmosphere (both staff and other customers during my visit who seemed to be real car enthusiasts); nice waiting environment; close distance to other things if you didn't want to wait / grab food. Would definitely recommend.

Got my vehicle done this past weekend. 15% rear, 30% front Pinnacle series. Still waiting for the tint to get cured in but so far it looks petty awesome. Quite noticible difference with the heat resistence, at least my 2 year old daughter doesn't scream and kick like before anymore when we seated her after having our car parked under the sun for 2 hours today. Highly recommended for all parents.
Very clean shop and nice little waiting area with complimentary water and coffee. That free wi-fi helped killed the time as well. I actually stood behind the window and watched them do the installation for an extended period of time and to be honest they did go the extra mile to make sure the windows were clean as I saw John wiping them down quite a few times before the film was applied. Had to wait a bit as they had 3 other vehicles in the shop at the same time but quite understandable, just wish the location was a bit closer to the shopping center so I could've browse around instead. Other than that, would definitely recommend these guys to others looking to get tints, especially the fact that they charged almost 100 bucks less than their competitor yet still delivered the same high quality product and workmanship.
The other vehicles had the AirBlue tinted on their windshield and now I am tempted. Not really noticible unless you really go and look for it. Any reviews from those who got it done?

Hello,
and Thank you fellow rfd friends for all of the continued patronage, positive feedbacks, and friendships.
Without you we would not be one of the best tint shops in the GTA!!!!!
A couple points I would like to address as we have entered our busy season:
- The group buy has ended, however as in previous years since we have met the required number of participants we will keep the group buy open for the rest of the summer for RFD members
- The website hosting expired by accident, it has been renewed and our site www.auto-links.ca will be back up shortly
- PLEASE call for quotes-inquiries-appointments, I am very sorry but I do 10-12 hours at the shop every day and do not have time to check emails and PMs regularly. If we do miss your call during business hours, PLEASE call back someone will always get to your call. Please do not leave voicemails during business hours.
- Unfortunately we are scheduling currently 1.5 weeks away. If you are in a rush to have your tinting done please check my prior posts for other top GTA shops
- The shop renovations are fully complete and we are in full operation now! Thank you again all for considering us for your automotive aftermarket needs, we hope we are able to exceed all of your tinting expectations!
Here is how we look after renovations:

The ceramic tints will be a little better for UV/Heat rejection but I think most are going for the ceramic because they are less likely to fade over time.

You won't see a 'failure' on the classic tint like purpling/bubbling but it will likely 'fade' over time. Hard to say how long as I assume there's a dependence on the amount of exposure to the sun.
If you don't plan to keep the car long, the classic is probably fine.
Ask Auto-links. They have demo equipment to show the differences between the different tints.

Well after a 2 week wait, my appointment at AutoLinks arrived ... alongside this sexy weather streak! Here's the jist of my experience from today.
I was booked in for 11 am, thus being the first one in the shop. John and his team were on spot and gave me some time to re-think the percentage I wanted to go with. I own an 08 TSX A-Spec w/ Nav, Premium white pearl. I ended up opting for the Formula One Pinnacle Series 30% on all 4 doors and back window, alongside the Llumar Air 80 on the front windshield and sunroof.
John's new shop was spotless! Everything was neat and organized, which brought me at ease. I had some work done by Auto-Links a few years back (Lamin-X on my fog lenses) at their old shop, this is definitely a major improvement/change -- congrats again John. John's team consisted of himself and 2 others. The windows were all cleaned with delicate care by one helper, while the other began working on popping the door panels and prepping the seals for the moleskin. I was very happy with the care taken when the door panels were popped, as not only did the individual know what he was doing, but he treated my car almost as his own -- something I appreciate!
John himself applied all film, except the sunroof which his helper had done. All film was applied with care and caution, and so far (despite being only 2 hours now) things seem to be okay. John did warn me about the front windshield and the Llumar 80 not adhereing sometimes to the dot-matrix, however so far so good -- knock on wood.
The job was completed in about 3.5 hours. The entire time I was sitting there watching their work, haha hopefully that didnt bother them too much. At the end the vehicle was brought out in the sun and a full inspection was performed. John's helper went over the care instructions and precautions to follow to ensure the tint comes out fine. Next came the fun part, paying for the job :p Everything was explained in writing along with the warranty cards/information/invoices were all explained by John himself. John insisted that I stay a while and allow the car to bake in the sun to ensure that I was happy with the job and could easily follow up at that time, however I opted to go home and grab some lunch -- in any case if anything does come up John will def' be able to help out.
All in all I am extremely happy with their workmanship and the job so far. The car's been baking in the sun since, and so far everything seems to look amazing.
I would definitely recommend AutoLinks to anyone, they did a great job and took care of the car! Thanks again guys. All the best to you and your team John.

Group buy still active. Experiance was similar to the above post, no real need to reiterate.
Had my TSX tinted with 15% Pinnacle all-round with the discount listed in the first post.
2.5 hour wait, very professional service.
Lifetime warranty on the tint, 10 year warranty on the labour.
Keep in mind they do have samples of classic/pinnacle tints at all offered % tint to compare darkness. They also have a machine to show u the differences between heat rejection on various tints.

Last weekend got the Pinnacle 15% on all doors and back window, Llumar Air 80 on the front windshield. Was the first appointment at 11am. John was late and had to wait awhile before he arrived. Received a call at 3pm that the job was done. Arrived around 4pm and had to wait again a bit before John was available to take payment.
Overall looks great, some very minor scuffing on the edge of one of the interior door panels where I assume they pried it open?
Heat inside the car is greatly reduced. Although I think 15% is a bit dark for the evenings, daytime it's great. Next time I'll probably get 30%.

Just wanted to add my feedback on John's shop. I recently had a car stereo installed (Kenwood DDX719) at Auto Links. I had my tints done there about a year ago and I was really pleased with the service and quality. John's incredibly honest and accommodating. I was already contemplating getting a new stereo when I got my tints but I didn't know where to get it installed. After doing business with John, I knew he would be the best option when I finally decided to get one. I emailed John with my needs and he addressed them promptly. I asked for a quote from Audio Heaven for the same unit and they quoted me $300 more with installation and parts included. John basically gave me the same price I would've received from an online shop like Crutchfield.
The new shop is a huge improvement from the old location. They were busy as usual when I arrived but they finished the installation in a timely manner. One of John's employees walked me through the new stereo and everything. I had a rattling sound in one of my door panels from the tint installation and John didn't hesitate to take a look at it. He was able to fix it of course.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Auto Links to anyone. I'm going to give them a call about WeatherTech mats in the winter and order a set for my car. I didn't know they carried them.

Just had my car tinted by John and Steven yesterday. I think someone backed out of their appointment so they called to see if I could come in earlier (my original appointment was next week) so it was a good surprise.
Nice waiting area with wi-fi, extremely clean work area (how is it so clean...?) and everyone was helpful, answering any questions I or any other customers might have had.
The timeline given was pretty much spot on and I left happy. They went through some instructions how to clean the windows, how you have to wait for the tints to dry, don't use the windows for the first 3-5 days. Included some window switch stickers just in case I forget about the windows too, I really like that little touch. Gave me a little package for the warranty. It was a good experience and I was extremely happy with the results.
I got 15% Pinnacle Series all around. Looks great! I know the dot matrix is a pain in the butt to do but it turned out really well considering it still has moisture still and still needs to dry up - I'm really happy about that since I've seen some terrible installs with dot matrix issues (not from Auto-Links, mind you!).
I drove all the way from Woodbridge, but it was well worth the drive (minus the 401 traffic, LOL). Even if I lived in Burlington or Hamilton, I wouldn't hesitate to drive from all the way there to go to Auto-Links to get any tint work installed.
10/10 for everything. Excellent experience!
And now for the pictures!

Hello fellow RFDer's,
Thank you again all for hosting our 4th annual RFD group buy.
I am sorry I am not able to make it on the forums more often, but it is overwhelming to come and see the great feedback and pictures you guys have posted!!!
Thank you all very much for your patronage, friendship, recommendations, and great words about our workmanship.
For those who are not aware, just wanted to share a recent article showing effects of UV Damage through windows and windshields. This is obviously to an extreme, however many of us do spend 2-3 hours per day in our vehicle during rush hour traffic. Furthermore as there are many concerns with the diminishing ozone layer, this should be more of a concern to all of us during our daily commutes especially when traveling with our family, friends, and colleagues.
No one thinks when hopping into your car you will need sunscreen, but the UVA rays do penetrate through vehicle windshields.
Please read Toronto Star article: http://www.thestar.com/news/world/article/1206297--daily-sun-exposure-leaves-man-s-left-side-looking-20-years-older
Hope that is useful to all,
Happy summer, and cheers,

For a black car you definitely want DARK tints
In general, cars look much better with black/dark tints. The only reason to go with the Air Blu instead is for greater visibility at night.
Personally, I'd only put Air Blu on the front windshield for some heat reduction, and go with darks for the rest.

How does 35% tint around feel or look like at all? Will it be took dark?
no, 35% is not too dark...in fact, it can be too light especially on a white car or black car. it's just the contrast in colours from the paint and the tint.
black or white cars should have 20% tint...the lighter colour cars look okay with 20-35% tint. the lighter colours can support the 35% tint.
what colour and model is the vehicle in question? you won't get any hassle for 35% from popo...if you do, it's because of something else you did or sth else about the car...=)

probably when the next person decides to start it up.

I've done a couple of cars in 40% and have had a bunch of friends do 30% and both are ok. 35% is pretty common - if you are going to auto-links, you can see both 30% and 40% before he installs it.

I'm kind of thinking 40% front and 35% rear. I don't want to make it too hard to back out at night. I haven't seen the comparison of 35% all around but I do heard that some people got caught with 35%. There's no law for tint %, it's up to cop's discretion. I still need to get my tinting done.
If you are uncomfortable, go 40% all around. I wouldn't bother mixing it up...... better to have a consistent look.
You may not notice the difference between 35% and 40% anyways.

Is it best to wait until warmer weather for it to dry easier?
I don't mind waiting, but if it doesn't make a difference, i'd rather get it done sooner rather then later.

Not sure if it really matters or not. But now should be ok, I mean you won't be opening your windows now anyways so why not.

That' 5 of us so far. Not sure how many would be needed for Auto-Links to offer a group buy rate. I'll be talking to them this week and can ask the question.
Anyone else interested in joining?

What colour/type of car do you have? I'm thinking of 30% on mine as well. I'll also remove your name from the tentative list.

Update:
I spoke to Steven at Auto-Links and mentioned we are trying to start up another group buy for this year. He has agreed to honour the same discount as last year so when you call them just make sure you mention you would like to take part in the group deal from Redflagdeals. I've booked my appointment already so looking forward to getting it.

I went to Auto-Links today to get my tint done and the guys there did an excellent job. John and Steve were very professional and explained the options available and afterwards made sure I knew exactly what I needed to do over the next few days to make sure the tint stayed on right. There was only a minor issue but John took care of it and made sure I was satisfied. I ended up going with the higher quality Pinnacle tint (30% front and back) as I believe in getting a quality product and having it done right the first time. I've seen enough "$99" bad tints out there that I'd rather not have to go through and this is something you do once to your vehicle so you shouldn't skimp on it.
I highly recommend Auto-Links and plan to return there for future tints.

Glad to hear you had a good experience. I'm still waiting for delivery on my car (1-2 weeks) so I'll set up an appointment once I have it.
I would also like to hear if any one has gotten the paint protection wrap (3M) done thru Auto-Links and what coverage they got (half hood, full etc.)? If not, any recommendations on where to get this done? You can PM me so as to keep the thread relevant about tinting at Auto-Links.

Grey Civic coupe for me, dark interior. I maybe should have gotten 35%, but he said its not popular.
I like the look of 30%, but I just don't want to get pulled over.

I did 30% this time as well. My previous vehicle had 30% in the front and 20% in the back and even darker on my vehicle before that. I've never had an issue with getting pulled over because of the tint but you should use some common sense. If you get stopped, make sure you roll your window down before the cop comes to the side of your car. It's not to hide your tint but it's to give the cop some confort in knowing the situation and not wondering what's waiting for him behind the dark window.

Yeah, they have 35. 30% is probably OK on a 4 door, since you have more windows. They had one 4 door car there getting 30% and I didn't think it was very dark at the time, but now when I look at my car, it's pretty dark imo. If your car is 4 door, I would go 30 to 15 in the back.
I would obviously roll down my window if stopped, but if they see my car drive by and decide to pull me over for my tint specifically, there isn't much I can do.

Do they have 35% available. I'm going to do mine soon.
The 35% that they had was only in the classic tint. The Pinnacle was 30% but when I compared the 2 they looked pretty much the same. Perhaps it's the material between the two.

No, I am pretty sure they have 35% in the pinnacle as well, I asked when I was there. It's just not on their sample board.

According to their web site (http://www.auto-links.ca/formulaone-tint-toronto.html#pricelist) and what Steven told me, 35% is only available with the classic series.
PINNACLE SERIES 5/15/30/40/50% (Ceramic Tint)
CLASSIC SERIES 5/15/35/50%

Still contemplating whether to get Pinnacle 30% or 40%. I have a white car and always feel 40% would be dark enough, but at the same time I don't want it not dark enough and waste money not getting 30%... hmmm.

My car is white and 30% looks great. Not super dark but also not too light. I love the contrast with the white.
