Anyone ever notice whenever you go into any restaurant or diner and you ask for a burrito they come nice and big, the dont break apart and the taste is actually pretty good?

Well the ones I try and buy in the grocery stores are always 50% smaller, they aren't as flexible as the ones you get at the restaurants and they don't taste as good. I know if you owned a restaurant you get access to special exclusive dealers but does anyone know where I can purchase some restaurant style flour tortillas that are like the ones in the restaurant?

Thanks

Kensington Market has some. I don't know where you're located, but look for local shops.

Most Grocery stores should carry the larger size tortillas (usually just over the size of a dinner plate). I don't know where you can get ones that will taste as good, but if you try steaming them they will be more flexable and less likely to rip.

I put however many I want to cook on a plate, put a damp paper towel on top and then wrap the plate in saran wrap and microwave briefly. They come out soft and easy to roll!

FYI, authentic tortillas are small, but i like the big one.
the ones you buy from the supermarket, are you using them right out of the bag?
have you tried heating them up first in a pan??? that will make them more malleable and tastier too.

I've seen the big ones at the local No Frills where they are big as a dinner plate and they come in different colors, but I feel they don't have the same flexibility as the other ones. I definitely warmed them up but they leave a weird smell on them and as soon as they dry up (which is pretty fast) they dont taste the same.

Its hard to explain, I need to really find some more resources for this.

as soon as you heat them up, put it on a plate and COVER it with another plate or a pot lid.
