I'm helping a family friend (old disabled guy) get his OAS application filled out. But his passport is expired.
Does this mean he can't apply anymore?
If so, I'm just wondering how I would get a passport renewed for him...would be difficult since he is wheelchair bound...
thanks

Are u saying to get OAS it is mandatory to have a valid passport? Why a passport only?

Is this the "proof of residence history" part?

He's a Canadian citizen and I read down the list of documents that were permissible. A passport is the only thing he can think that he may have albeit expired. I wonder if they will accept a passport that expired in 2006, he doesn't know if he has the one from 2006-2011
Thanks

he needs something to show his proof of entry into canada if he is not born here. (ie. a passport, a record of landing etc)

That's the thing came to my mind. Isn't a affidavit or something is available from Feds for this?

hopefully an expired passport isn't a big deal.

well if he needs to prove his entry into canada, he can contact citizenship & immigration and apply for a copy of his imm1000 (record of landing).
