I submitted a request for part time status form because I want to drop Calculus, and dropping this would make me part time because I only have 2 courses in 2nd semester. The office told me that the principal isn't going to be looking at part time request forms until the end of March (I have no idea why....), which means that I'm still enrolled in that class for now. Does it REALLY matter if I attend class or not? Even though I'm going to be a part time student this semester, I actually have 4 other courses (2 day school courses, 1 night school course and 1 virtual school course) and I would much rather spend the time working on stuff from these courses rather than sitting in class doing nothing knowing that I'm going to be dropping this anyways.

The only concern is what if the principal refuses to approve the request (guidanceapproved it, teacher approved it, parents approved it, just waiting on principal)? Will I beSOL?

If you don't go it's fine depending on where you apply. Some university programs don't accept students if they have a failed course (if you don't go, but stay in the course because your principal didn't approve it). Check your programs that you applied to to see if they need calculus as a prerequisite. If not, and the university doesn't care about you failing courses - you don't have to attend as long as you have other courses that can be used in your top 6.

If its March I think they've already sent your second semester midterm marks right? I'm assuming you want to drop it because your mark isn't that high. But if the programs you're applying to don't even need it then you should be fine. You can just skip it if its not needed, even if you can't drop it. Not sure how strict your principal is though, but I remember my guidance Councillor telling me the school gets a LOT less money/funding for Part Time students so they're careful about it.

So THAT'S why I wasn't allowed to do part time either last year.. I had 4 courses 1st sem and wanted to take another 2 2nd sem, just having 6 without doing 8. Ended up using my to be spares in the swimming pool in aquatics class and working out in the gym lol. Failed both courses MISERABLY (only went when I had free time).

Also, I'm pretty sure midterm grades are sent out in April, that's when I was accepted because Ryerson wanted to see a math course.
