Why do they taste so chalky?
Why so much calories!
Currently we use Whey Shake Powder & Pure Protein Bars (from Costco) - Getting sick of them...
Any other good ones you like I should try?

Oh...I thought it fits under "Wellness"
I assumed that people eat protein bars/shakes to help them get healthy...
I am sorry if this topic should not be here but how do I change it?

More expensive than the stuff at Costco, but they have better tasting flavors. You can find some of them in the natural foods section at Loblaws/Superstore. $29.99 for 2 lb, I think.

Yeah, the Pure Protein bars are gross. I took one bite and immediately regretted buying a whole box. :/
I've heard that the Oh Yeah! bars taste good, but I've only seen them sold individually.

Make your own. Just buy regular whey protein and add milk or water and boom you're done. If you want the best tasting protein bars, get Quest bars. Buy the sampler, should be around $30 shipped to your house for a box of 12. The best tasting protein bars hand down.. and btw.. they are all natural and have tons of fiber ;)

I vote kaizen whey. It has good mixability and the best price around when on sale. It is what I take post workout.
I dont care for taste as I usually chug it really fast anyways. I always tell people although they might not fancy the idea, people should eat for health and not for tastes. I don't believe in the idea that for say hypothetically, the same product but the one that is tastier you have a to pay a premium for.
I take GFR whey all the time other than post workout geeeze. :D I've known other lifters that eat the hardest things to cope with and theyll tell you the same (straight olive oil by the spoon full on keto). The time it really doesn't matter anymore is when you are loaded and financially sound.
If you are serious and hardcore enough forgo the taste and usually higher premium associated with it and man up.

The best bar I have ever had was called Oh Yeah! bars. Unfreakin' believable. But look at the ingredient list of all the bars and you'll notice that they aren't very far off from a candy bar. Most contain soy protein as their main source = garbage. There are so many other great tasting protein powders out there if that's what you're looking for? I like Optimum Nutrition but there are so many available that saying any one brand is best is simply not true. Try some others and find what you like.
I'll just say from personal experience, stay away from Dymatize whey. I bought their 3 pack 10 lbs carton once and all three flavours basically tasted the same, yet they were banana, piƱa colada and orange creamsicle? LOL Weird.

where can i buy protein on its own for me to make the shakes with milk and such?
but are these bars and shakes really necessary? i used to buy iso xp from GNC and drink that stuff after every workout, but last few months, i haven't done that and have just been working hard at the gym. i can't compare results directly, but i don't really feel like i'm missing out on much here

so judging by the nutrition labels for the QB's, active/ net carbs are calculated by subtracting fiber and sugar alcohols from total carbs?

They used to offer free sample bars, but stopped due to high demand.

That's correct.
I bought Brownie/Cinnamon ones last time. Both good and very filling for 170 cals.

Protein bars are chalky because protein is dry. Fat is required to keep it somewhat moist like Peanut Butter.
There are alot of calories because of all the added flavour, carbs. If you had a bar which was pure protein it would be 1/4 of the size of a regular protein bar, but you still need something to bind all the protein together.
Ive seen a really good protein bar recipe from "scooby1961" on youtube. (i hate his instructional vidoes)

I thought about it, but they will only give you a deal if you become a wholesaler. Other than that, if you order 10 boxes, 1 is free.

I came across this website that has all sorts of things you can make with protein powder, including protein bars. I haven't tried the recipes yet but they look damn good:

Holy crap!!! Pun intended.
Peanuts, Protein Blend [(OhYeah! Blend Consisting of Whey Protein Isolate, Soy Protein Isolate, Milk Protein Isolate, Milk Protein Concentrate, Calcium Caseinate), Hydrolyzed Gelatin], Chocolate Coating [Chocolate Liquor, Maltitol, Cocoa Butter, Sodium Caseinate, Milk Fat, Soy Lecithin (an Emulsifier), Sucralose, Vanillin (an Artifical Flavor), Vanilla and Salt], Caramel (Sugar, Corn Syrup, Non Fat Dry Milk, Maltitol Syrup, Cocoa Butter, Corn Starch, Butter, Sucralose, Soy Lecithin, Natural and Artificial Flavor), Soy Nuts, Glycerine, Peanut Flour, Fractionated Palm Kernel Oil, Lecithin (an Emulsifier), Natural and Artificial Flavors, Salt, Sucralose and Potassium Sorbate Added as a Preservative.
Wow! Do you really eat 2 a day?? Please stop believing there is any goodness in them. Go grab a box of your favorite candy bar it'll be much healthier for you.
...can't believe people fall for this 'health food' marketing crap. that **** is poison.

Those first 4 ingredients above are found in ' Muscle Milk' and ' Combat ' supplements ...and ( except for salt ) in Xtreme Formulations supplements which has fructose, food starch etc....though Potassium Chloride is added in place of salt.
And as far as Potassium Sorbate goes, both ' Muscle Milk' and ' Combat ' use Potassium Citrate - a known preservative and buffer.

Way to butcher my post to see what you wanna see.
Anything in moderation...but 2 of these a day with the SUM of all these ingredients is bad. Now go play somewhere else.

So, is taking 2 protein supplements a day which includes those ingredients I cited - and that you called " poison " - within moderation as well in your view ?

Do you know the amounts in each? Because last time I checked, both had a proprietary blend. Unless you know something us lowly serpents don't?

Can anyone recommend a decent flavourless protein? I like leaner formulas, so whey isolate would be best. Sometimes I mix it into a smoothie for breakfast and blend it all together for convenience, and having chocolate fruit flavoured protein is starting to bother me a little lol. If there isn't anything flavourless, then I'd also be open to berry flavour suggestions.

What do you mean by leaner? Whey protein concentrate is still a very good protein option. The few grams of fats aren't going to disrupt your diet in any meaningful way. I know Kaizen, Allmax and Perfect Nutrition all have unflavoured whey.
