Hey RFD Community,
So I purchased Raptors/Knicks tickets off Kajiji and upon arrival at the game today, I was told these same tickets has already showed up multiple times. MLSE took a photocopy of my drivers license to keep a record. Because the transfer is done via e-mail, my bank CIBC said they can disclose the fraudsters identify to authorities but I needed to get a case started.
Do any of you guys have experience with the situation or have any pointers for me? I'm really pissed because i spoke with the guy multiple times on the phone (# doesn't work anymore). It just sucks to be scammed when you always deal with people honestly.
The scammers info:
E-mail and name used: TAMI HOWARD (prs-inc@hotmail.com)
Name on Ticket: Dmitry Mikheev
his # use to be: 647-739-2015
Total $: $480
Thanks guys. I appreciate any help
Phil

ouch, i hope you didn't bring a girl to the game. It would've been embarrassing.
I'm sure somebody on this forum will be able to help you track him down.
Here's a start maybe ?

But, if you done the transaction via EMT. I'm sure the police can track him down easily. I would suggest you to file a police report first.

Thanks SEXYJ. Appreciate the response as i'm too pissed to even sleep. I actually took my parents as a gift (equally embarrasing). i ended up buying 3 tickets at the box office so i didn't dissapoint them. At this stage, it's not really the $ that matters. it's the fact that a scammer got away. I'm honeslty willing to give $480 to the person who helps me get the money back or they can pick a charity to donate it to. I will keep my words. I rather that $480 goes towards something "good" .

When something like this happens it generally isn't the original purchaser of the tickets that's scamming... it's usually the 2nd buyer purchasing it from the original owner and then re-selling it multiple times through kijiji. It's a shame that there are so many scammers out there and they need to be caught. Op, I hope you get your money bank and I hope the perpetrator gets caught and punished big time.

Why did you let MLSE photocopy your driver's license? That's a HUGE privacy violation.
Anyhow, here's the original ad.

What you need to do is watch all ticket ads for this style, and wait for him to reappear. Then you meet up with him and reclaim your money.

Don't they pay people to go to raptors games by now?
Ba dum crash
But seriously, do raptors consider north america in their drafts? Haha
Btw, hope you get justice with this scammer, similar thing happened to me at a Canucks game, but it was a legit misunderstanding and the guy gave us our money back right away. Still annoying though. It was a sold out game but the ticket lady gave us tickets for the visiting team's families at face value, which was still 170 a pop. haha

Raptors? $160 per? Wow.
I was browsing ticketmaster yesterday thinking about picking up some last minute tickets to the game, and prices STARTED at something like $170 for the upper bowl area. $400 starting in the lower half sections.
To the OP, I doubt the name on the tickets is the scammer's name. Doubt they would be that stupid to sell you a fake ticket with their name on it. Hope you find the scammer!

But they already accepted the money in their own name via EMT

Good morning everyone. I just filed a police report and also left the police with this thread. I want to thanks all of you who has posted and pmed me in this situation. Because the funds were via EMT, the identity of the scammer can be found out easily. I will file a report to kijiji as well and update you all on progress. I am thankful that this forum exists with great members who are so tech savy and helpful. I hope together we bring justice.

Sure. Coz there's no such thing as a fake/stolen bank account.
OP, sorry to hear about you getting scammed. It happened to me once at a Liverpool game. Myself and my buddy bought tickets from a scalper, went to the turnstile and man said they were not real tickets but called someone over. That guy led us into the ground and found us a couple of seats that were empty ( game had just started). Best seats I've ever sat in.
If your scammer has half a brain, he'll have covered his tracks well and won't be easily found. But there are a lot of dumb criminals out there, hopefully he's one of these.
