Does anyone know which Chinese restaurants have King crab in GTA?
I had it once at Grand Lake 2 yrs ago but they don't have it anymore this year . I saw the other thread about lobster so I called all the seafood restaurants mentioned and none of them have it (in stock). They all have to do special order.
Thanks

I had King Crab at Perfect Restaurant (Sheppard/Brimley) just last week. As you probably already know it is very expensive... price varies depending on the season. It was around $30 per pound and the crabs are around 8 pounds each, so you're easily looking at the neighbourhood of $200-$250 per crab.
You may have to call ahead to make sure they reserve it for you.

I was at Da Fu Seafood Cuisine (Middlefield/Steeles) yesterday, and I saw the waiter bring a king crab over to another table for inspection. Not sure what the price is like, as I was there for the lobster ($6.99/lb). Service really leaves quite a bit to be desired, but food is generally decent to good.

Thanks! I will call tomorrow.
Not sure about special order. I have never done it. We want to eat it but not that badly enough to place special order.

It probably also depends on the season too, therefore, more widely available during the season, and less so or much more expensive out of season.

I don't see the difference, you are already calling multiple restaurants to see if they have it which is more work than just ordering it in advance.
Anyways, king crab season may be over?
Last time i was at O'mei, they also had king crab in the tanks.

At $6.99 per pound or similar, I would just stick with lobster....better on the wallet. Or go with a cheaper crab (Dungeness or other).

No way! I find it hard to believe that anywhere would charge $50/lbs!!

Wait next year? Next year it may be $60/lb! Do yourself a favor, eat it now. Do not wait for next year!

actually, it's believable. If supermarket, like T&T is selling at $25 per lb, the restaurant will typical charge 2x of supermarket price, thus $50/lb is at least in the range.
Another example, Saigon Star (Bayview & 7) charges $40+ for their famous curry crab. Supermarket sells for $5/lb or so.

IMO, Dungeness crab is very tasty...much better bang for the buck than King crab.....recall buying 3+ pound Dungeness crab fresh off the boat in the mid 90's in the North Coast of BC.
