Right now he has the highest save % of all time in a season. .943 right now. His GAA is 1.48. The highest prior was 1.52 in 1927! 3 straight SOs the last three games for a total of 9 in 36 GP. No goalie has ever achieved these stats while playing this amount of games.
5 games left in the season. 36 GP so far. That qualifies. WOWOWOW.

Nice stats but they don't really count and this type of record won't really get much attention because....he's still the backup on STL.
Stamkos getting close to 60 goals maybe and even though it's not a record, it'll get more attention. Elliott's turned his game around but he's also lucky to be benefiting from Hitchcock, there's a reason why Colorado and Ott gave up on him. I'm an Avs fan, I've seen how awful he can be first hand and the Avs defence was pretty bad last season but so was he.
EDIT: Btw, the OT folks don't care about hockey unless they're trying to figure out a way to blame immigrants for ruining something hockey related or such so I doubt anyone here notes it.

what nettles said. elliott is clearly a product of hitchcock system. while he's posting incredible numbers, he still is a product of an extremely good system

Let's see how he performs in 2 weeks when games start meaning something. In Ottawa he could never handle the pressure of the important games.

Avs fan here too. Wasn't fun watching Budaj and Elliot letting in bad goal after bad goal post-Anderson trade. Mind you, the defense didn't help a lot, but there were some times where you would rely on a goalie to make a routine save, and they just wouldn't.
Onto Elliot though, there was a very interesting chat about him on Team 1200 Healthy Scratches yesterday. They put up a poll asking Ottawa fans - knowing what they know now about Elliot - if they would still make the Anderson/Elliot trade. 70% said they would still make the trade. A lot of Elliot's poor play in Ottawa last year can be attributed to the coach throwing him under the bus every game, which puts very little confidence into a goalie. His problems in Colorado were caused by a bad defensive core and also poor goaltending on his part.
You look at him now in St Louis, who give up the least amount of shots per game, and notice that Elliot faces 26 shots a game on average. That's anywhere from 2 to 6 shots less than a majority of other teams, and probably about 1 to 4 less scoring chances against per game. Add together the limited amount of shots against and the fact he's been basically splitting time with Halak, you have a very well rested goalie tandem that could prove to be deadly in the playoffs.
Regardless, I think David Perron was nominated for the Masterton trophy from St Louis, but maybe Elliot should have been nominated along with him. This is a guy that went around begging teams for a chance to play in the NHL, got a two-way contract, and earned his way back in to show over Ben Bishop. Very impressive, to say the least.
Sure, he's benefitted greatly from Hitchcock's system, but he has also improved tremendously since last season.

Broduer benefited from a trap system as well.

SV % record was broken last year, shows you how much that record is worth.
A garbage goalie can do amazing things in the right system/team.
Send him off to the Islanders next year and we'll see what stats he puts up.
Blues are garbage anyway and won't win anything in the playoffs. Can't wait to fade these scrubs.
