Some of us spend most of our lives browsing RFD, err I mean at our desk working. I looked at my cubicle and thought it would be cool to know what other people's desks are like!

I've got 2 computers with one monitor with a switcher. 1 for dedicated extractions (HP P4) and another new HP with Core I5. :cheesygri

- talking Cartman
- mini stress relief Cartman
- around 15 Christmas cards from years past from office folks
- row of colour newspaper photos of hotties (Amber (from Survivor), Scarlett Johansson, Natalia Glebova, Nelly Furtado and Taylor Swift)
- raccoon mask from the annual work Christmas skits
- half deflated Tigger, mummified in toilet paper from above skits
- half deflated giant hammer
- rotating scrabble board
- Simpsons Clue game
- Burger King crown

What you got?

I've got a cube.

I don't have any personal effects in it, all work related.

I have...

3x desktops (1 is a Mac)
2x laptops
2x LCD monitors (KVM too)
a bunch of work documents skewed all over my desk
reference sheets posted up on the walls
Wacom tablet
Xerox colour laser printer
giant hand sanitizer

An old refurbished g4, with a usb keyboard, as I fried the other in a coffee spill.

An air purifier, one of those large ionizers, which is reasonably loud.

A mattress on the floor.

A kitchen table for a desk.

Black curtains, always drawn, not fond of the light.

I have known better in my time, but this is what I have now.

Wow... I'm a piler.
They're right.
The things I'm working on or need follow up... I have to have it out somewhere. It is organized though.

I just have a few piles depending on urgency.

My office used to be a bachelor apartment and was converted into an office sometime in the mid 90s. When the built this building it was intended to be a super intendents unit. But I guess they soon realized that no one in the building maintenance field would want to live in a alternative housing project in the middle of the most drug infested area of the city... even if it was free. lol

So I do have my own fully enclosed office with a full kitchen and bathroom. Sometimes I come in early and make bacon and eggs for breakfast. :cheesygri its nice.

lol, not many people have personal effects around. I just moved cubicles not that long ago too, so in my old cubicle I used to I used to have photos up. But haven't put anything back up in my new cubicle.

I do design and programming. The three desktops are on three separate networks (that are not connected in any way). The Mac is for design work, and it's connected to the tablet and printer. The laptops are for portable usage. I normally only have one laptop, but I just got a new one and am in the process of moving everything over. So next week I'm down to one laptop. All the hardware is pretty old (more than 2-3 years old... one of the desktops is even a single core), except for the new laptop.

lol it's because I am asked a lot to help people with their computers (and a lot of people's keyboards and mice look like they have never been cleaned). Nothing related to porn.

Hand Sanitzer is a clear indication of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder isn't it? Not that it's a "disorder", because it's not. I had a good friend who was very anxious all the time, and had bought's of eczema, so I am just projecting. I have no idea, as I just usually associate hand sanitizer with cleanliness, concern, and attentive people. Successful ones too.

I have a plastic Obi Wan =)

I do put a bunch of things on top of my shelf though that I have no space for at home:

Obi Wan (as mentioned)
Grady Sizemore Bobblehead
Spiderman Bobblehead
Dwight Schrute Bobblehead
Florda Panthers Stanley Cup (the miniature one when you buy a pack of 24)
Killzone 3 Helghast Figurine
Kobe Bryant Figurine (from NBA 2k10)

Not a typical office setup.. we sit along both sides of a long table.

Everyone has the same setup: 6-7 monitors.. 4 Bloombergs to left, 2-3 on right. Human Scale leather chairs. A pretty large phone with a lot of speed dials on it. I have a picture of my girfriend.. no gadgets, just a stress ball and sticky notes everywhere. Research reports scattered along the table.

The setup behind me are windows facing north with two 55" LCD TVs on CNBC and Bloomberg. Same setup in front of me, except instead of windows there's a couple offices (for the principles) and a couple boardrooms and a meeting room.

Left wall a huge chalk board.. and next to that a big economic calendar, beneath long row of filing cabinets. Way down on the right side, a kitchenette and a table in front with a daily spread (subway, druxy's, etc), nothing special but it's free lunch and breakfast everyday.

Work: (I am a technical librarian for an airline)
-Dual monitors (Left monitor is my 'working' screen and I run outlook and other reference stuff on my right monitor)
-Microsoft Wireless Keyboard (brought in myself)
-Microsoft Wired comfort mouse (brought in myself)
-To my left there are document shelves with various papers
-To my right are various binders with document tracking sheets and folders
-I have a few charts with data related to the planes we operate (serial numbers, variant types, registrations, etc)
-I have most of my papers in a small filing drawer beside my desk
-Current/in-progress stuff is on the desk
-I have an airplane model on my CPU (in addition to other models around the area)
-Since I work in a "library" there are large rolling (but modern) crank shelves. Maintenance (technical) related stuff occupies two shelving banks and the rest is for flight operations stuff (which I assist with when needed).

My work is very computer based (thankfully) so I do not [read: trying to] reduce paper use wherever possible. Unfortunately our tracking systems are mainly paper based (distribution of manuals, etc). I don't have a "cubicle" but rather an L shaped desk space. Behind my monitors is another dude and behind me is a girl.

Ah, cubes... I remember those days. Fun fact: in Germany, all office work space must have natural light. So, even if it is a cube farm set-up, there must be windows close by to let in natural light. Keeps the employees happy.

Back to topic...In my building, everyone gets an office, irrespective of rank or position because the building was an old convent.

On my table, there is a monitor, a docking station, a keyboard, a mouse, a laptop, and some papers. A lightly packed suitcase in case I need travel on a whim. On the side is an extra chair and a file cabinet where I keep my snacks.

My view out the window are the pre-Alps, although on a clear day the Alps can be seen. The sounds around are cow bells between April and October. No central air because that's not normal so I love the fresh air by opening the window. I hate recycled air.

That is the working life environment in the land of chocolate.
