Wanna try out Muskoka for cottage rental this summer.

For previous years, we have cottage-ed in Wasaga and Blue Mountain. We have always stayed relatively close to the "downtown" area, usually a <10min drive to where all the amenities are (wal-mart, basic fashion shops, beaches, kayak/seadoo rentals etc.)

Does anyone know of any good (or even luxurious) cottages in Muskoka, preferably near the amenities or the "downtown" area?

Thanks in advance!!

Where is downtown Muskoka? haha

You've got four "towns" - Gravenhurst, Bracebridge, Huntsville and Haliburton.

Gravenhurst is the closest and has a Boston Pizza with some shops near the waterfront.

Bracebridge is bigger (kind of like Collingwood) but there really isn't that much. Haliburton is the farthest and there are some smaller type restaurants there.

Bracebridge and Huntsville have Walmart's. You can find seadoo rentals at marina's all over. Fashion shops? errr... kinda.... lol Beaches? I'd say the beaches would be a 1/10, lol

None of these towns has a collingwood feel - or the craziness of Wasaga... yet that's kind of the point - you go to cottage country to get the hell away from that :D

Bracebridge sounds like it is the best place for you, look on lake muskoka if you want luxurious :)
