In what appears to be an attempt to lay claim to the title of most ignorant MP, Conservative John Williamson decides to quote from Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech in speaking about the ending of the long gun registry.

If we ignore the obvious problems with comparing the annoyance of the long gun registry with the civil rights movement in the US, is Mr. Williamson not aware of how Martin Luther King Jr. died?

WHAT!!!! You actually expect a politician to be knowledgable about something other than their own agenda?

Obviously this guy is just another low-IQ toadie reading something written for him by an anonymous writer who ignored (or the researcher is an idiot) facts and wrote this astounding piece of drivel for him.

The only dreams poiticians have is of re-election and gold-plated pensions after 6(?) years of warming a leather chair.

This is the problem with our system right here. No matter how bad politicians screw up the country/province, they are not held accountable. Worst case scenario, they are voted out of office and they go back to their cushy jobs they left (for most of them anyway). At the end of the day, they don't really care what happens.

You Conservatives are going to notice only at the last possible moment that you are being manipulated and controlled.

Unfortunately by then it will be too late.

The Conservative Party in Canada == Republicans in the U.S == Obama. We are going to lose rights rapidly in the next few years, and we're going to have a sharp increase in imprisonment. Oh wait, this is already happening. Relaxing the gun laws may actually work against us in the long run, because the few people who do have guns are cowards and won't step up against an oppressive regime, they will in fact support them as they are now.

Yes we are becoming more American

Well - the way I see it, the Conservatives will get too arrogant
and Harper will become the new Mulroney and the Conservatives will lose big time

I like Obama. I did not know I was supposed to be voting for the Conservatives.

Isn't gun rights civil rights? Stop blaming guns for crime, blame the people behind the guns. No one blames cars for drunk driving.

We have no issues with having to register our cars.

Comparing the requirement to register a gun with the hardships that black people had to endure in the US throughout history is hyperbole to the greatest degree.

I have a dream, that one day the sons of slaves and the sons former slave owners can sit at the table of brotherhood and not quote King.

I am sure the only speech you can use MLK Jr speech if you are talking about freedom and about minority and about racism. I doubt this has anything to do with freedom/minority/racism.
