Hi.
Just curious if anyone has done any of the TDSB bicycle courses? How in depth do they go into the teachings? How rushed are the courses?
A little about me. I'm a visual and hands on person. That is the best way that I learn. After the visual and hands on if I'm switched over to books then I'll get what the books are talking about as I can reference it from the previous experience.
I can:
-patch flats front/back
-change tires
-change a chain/clean (with a chain cleaner self enclosed unit)
-install and adjust seats, bike comps
-adjust brake barrel tensioner thing for lighter or harder braking
I'm looking to learn how to repair bikes and hoping it will lead me to a job doing bike repairs in a shop for some more experience. I'm not a mechanical person but given time I can be taught how to do things. I have seen some videos on Youtube on how to adjust gears tho I've not done that yet. Ultimately I'd love to get to Sheldon Browns knowledge (R.I.P, miss him :( ).
Has anyone here worked in a bike shop? If so which one and what is the experience like?
What is the pay like per hour? What is the pay raise amount/percentage range as experience grows?
Thanks in advance for any help. I just want some direction to aim for and real experience feedback.
