I have done some eBay selling years ago but things now look quite different than what I remember. Can someone with eBay experience help me out?

I tried to list on their .com site because I've heard that's the only way the seller can view the visitor counter. But when I got to the shipping part I got stuck. I don't want to use their shipping calculator (they assume I am shipping out from the US) and it kept asking me to enter the size and weight of my package. Is there a way I can bypass this part? I prefer putting such information in the body of my item descriptions. Thanks in advance.

Well, I guess it doesn't matter because I tried .ca and it still asked me for packaging information. This item is in irregular size and I will have to pack it according to buyer's instruction. This part of the listing process is not only useless (in my case) but also makes it impossible for me to list! >:(

You are obviously doing something wrong. There is a flat rate option in shipping section.

So I misunderstood the meaning of flat rate? I thought flat rate meant "same shipping cost to all locations"? The cost to ship this within Canada will be very different than shipping to the US. I can't charge the same rate for different locations. Did I miss something :?:

**I tried to choose flat rate but it still asked me to enter the shipping cost. Seems like I can't list it unless I know how much it will cost to ship the darn thing! :(

Flat rate per region, and region defined by seller. Eg.

$4 for Canda
$20 for USA
$100 for everyone else (if defined)

If memory serves, you can set a separate flat rate cost for Canada (domestic) and one for the US. If you don't want a flat rate cost, you may have to either set one shipping costs in the listing and explain in your listing what this costs covers and for extra protection ask them to contact u for an estimate. I guess alternatively, you could set a really high shipping cost and tell them to contact u for a more precise estimate.

For the counter, I believe the counter works if you list from ebay.ca, but just view your listing from ebay.com

I don't mind providing such information for each of my potential buyer. My problem is that I cannot get pass the "Give buyers shipping details" part when I try to post my listing. I must put some solid information there in order to proceed forward. If I chose shipping cost varies by locations I was to fill out the dimensions and weight of the parcel, or if I chose flat rate I needed to put in one actual amount. I tried to put a zero on it but of course it showed on my listing that shipping was free. I know I can put just about any $$ on shipping but I'd hate to have to dispute in the future simply because someone didn't bother to read my descriptions about shipping details.

I have just looked again but for flat rate there is only one rate, not two. I thought about putting a high shipping $$ but it will look ridiculous when it show up during an eBay search. I am afraid people won't even bother to click on my listing because they get turned off by the shipping cost. About the counter, thanks for the hint. It makes sense. I am afraid I will have to go ahead to pack the item, measure and weigh it, to get pass the shipping part of listing. If the buyer doesn't like how it's packed I will have to do it all over again. New features like this suppose to make thing easier for us... but surely it's not the case for me! :(

Yeah I forgot you're doing this on ebay.com, so it may be different. I'm pretty sure what I wrote applies for ebay.ca

I exclusively sell from ebay.com and have been doing so for years. I had no idea there was a restriction in place. Was I grandfathered in past some newly established rule that prevents Canadians from selling on ebay.com?
