Who here is reading Avengers Vs. X-Men (AvX). I haven't read comics in years (except the Walking Dead) but I just had to read these. For the first time in a decade I even have a pull list at my local shop for these and any side stories that are released.

I really like how you get a free digital copy with them too. If you missed issue 0 and 1, 0 is going into 2nd printing next Wednesday and I think 1 is 2 weeks after that. If you are reading them you probably know that issue two comes out the same day (04/18).

I've been so out of the loop on comics these days, but who's that on the rightmost x-men side? Is that Namor? Is he considered a mutant now?

I think he's been considered a mutant for awhile now but yeah Namor is an X-man now.

You're right - just searched it on wikipedia... I guess I never considered him a mutant because he's also half Atlantean

Why are they fighting?

I thought they'd be working together to fight crime.

They usual do this to spark some controversy or renew interest in comic franchises. I remember a few years ago Marvel had the "Civil War" mini series that had superhero vs superhero face off and choose sides and also had the controversial assassination of Captain America storyline. That actually was the last time I briefly got back into comics. This looks interesting though and maybe I'll just pick up the trade paperback later down the road...yeah I know that's blasphemy for comic collectors but it's just easier nowadays to grab it all in one nice book to read :)

Yeah, a lot has changed if you haven't been keeping up. Magento is an X-Man, Colossus is the new Juggernaut, Wolverine is the new head master of his own school and Jubilee is not a mutant anymore but instead a vampire etc. etc.

True story.

I totally remember this! I had the first issue, but didn't get the rest. I remember it focused around Magneto.

Looking at the wiki for the new AvsX, it looks like it focuses around the Phoenix character.

When reading that wiki, they mentioned that there will be some stand alone "VS" issues which have some 1 vs 1 matchups. Each issue will have 2 match ups. The first three issue match ups:

Issue 1: Iron Man vs. Magneto and the Thing vs. Namor
Issue 2: Spider-Man vs. Colossus and Captain America vs. Gambit
Issue 3: Black Widow vs. Magik and the Thing vs. Colossus

I'm sorry, but Iron Man stands no chance against Magneto...I mean really. Fine... let's just say that Tony Starks just so happens to have a plastic suit... that device keeping him alive which he can't take out is metal. Look what Magneto did to Wolverine 20 years ago (ripped all the metal out of his body)... this would be the same.

Magneto bouncing back and forth isn't anything new... but rest of the stuff... WTF?

I got a lot of catching up to do... I'm going to the San Diego Comic Con and want to at least be somewhat up to date on what's happening in the comic world.

Wow I remember this too...and I think it's in some box at my parents house as well! LOL ... I can vaguely remember only a few things, one I think Magneto rewires his helmet to test/fix mutant racism and tests it on Captain America only to reveal that Captain America actually has NO prejudice against mutants!

Ha that brings back memories. I think Phoenix/Jean Grey had to do some "mind fixing" on Wolverine so that he would survive the ordeal of the adamantium being ripped off of him. The big reveal was later when the bone claws come out of him since it was always thought that the claws were added but in fact, he was born with them! I assume that after all these years since it happened, he got the adamantium put back into him. Good times :)

No one will die, so who cares. My problems with the comics from the big 2 is that no one will die or stay dead permanently. I don't class the Ultimate Spiderman as a major character either. Off the old one...or get off the pot. At least with some of the other publishers out there, you know a lot of characters are going to end up meeting some grisly death (like in Hellboy and BPRD) but for superheroes...ain't going to happen. Don't get me started on the writers who are afraid to kill innocent victims yet the papers are full of such crimes. You'd have me believe that taking over the planet somehow entails no loss of life! Give me a break! So, when are we going to get a "Hunger Games" storyline where they DO kill juvenile characters? No time soon I'd imagine...

On a different note, who is looking forward to the on-going Gambit coming out after this event?

I call BS on Magneto VS Ironman as well as Thing Vs Namor.

I'm almost willing to bet that the point of the Phoenix force is to bring back all the mutants after the House of M arc.

I've been enjoying the side series more that has been fleshing out the story, but the main series has been good too.

They are available on the marvel app, and if you want the paper ones that are being reprinted, so if they are out of stock at your local shop you might be able to pick up a 2nd or 3rd printing to get the first 3.

I had to buy the first Infinite Comic from Marvel just to see what it was like. Let's just say that I'll definitely be buying the next issue. I was definitely impressed, especially with this being the first issue Marvel has released. I know the new take on digital comics will only expand in new, creative ways. Great job Marvel. :cheesygri:cheesygri:cheesygri
