Hi,
As per the title, I'm looking to go to Vegas for 5 nights, departing July 5th. I've been doing a little comparing, and I've found accomodations 1.5 miles from the strip at Circus Circus Hotel and Casino for 759$ on expedia.ca.
This seems reasonable enough, but I was wondering if anyone from Toronto had tried leaving from a smaller airport, or hopping the border to leave from Buffalo... or if there are any tips in general to save some dollars... I've never been before.
Thanks in advance

There is a Vegas Deal thread you can read through - tons of useful information there.
But...you probably don't want to stay at Circus Circus, it is quite far from where the "action" is. You would want to stay on the strip. You are also going with 2 expensive nights (Friday and Saturday). If you still want to go for 5 days and overlap the weekend so you only go for 3 weekdays, consider going July 7 to July 11. Still 5 days but you replace the expensive Friday night with a cheaper weekday.
Also depending how people is going, considering flying from Buffalo if you don't mind the hassle. If you have more than 2, it might be worth the extra 90 mins~ each way of driving to save potentially a couple of hundred dollars per person.

I will read the thread, thanks.
And the time is fixed - I'm going to a specific event the 6th to the 8th (EVO 2012).
I will likely be going alone, as my friends are all broke... I'm currently looking at about 900 to stay at Imperial Palace (googlemaps says 4 minutes walk to Caeser's Palace, where I need to be)
Thanks

Take my advice. Don't stay at this shiithole. Especially in the middle of summer when hotel prices are low and deals are easy to find. The only reason this place still exists is because of it's name recognition.
You've obviously never been to Vegas(I can tell because if you had been, you'd never consider staying there)so try to stay closer to center strip. Imperial Palace, Harrahs, Ballys, Bill's, are all basically center strip & a big step up from CC for just a few dollars more. Even places like Monte Carlo, NY/NY, & Luxor, though not center strip but most certainly way closer than CC, are worth spending a little more for than settling for a dump just to save a few bucks.
I'd also look @ booking your flights & hotel seperately no matter where you decide to fly out of. Check here for some promo codes for hotels in Vegas: www.smartervegas.com
Good luck & have fun.

$900 including flight or excluding flight? You can also consider other options such as Flamingo/Bally's like the last poster mentioned, or even look into Tropicana. It's a bit of a walk from Tropicana but between monorail and all that, it's not so bad.

Thanks for the advice, Imperial Palace is shaping up to be where I'll go... I had heard good things about Flamingo (good balance of price and value), but I can save a decent chunk at Imperial Palace. And nope, never been, so all advice is helpful :).
900 flight in, it's what I figure it'll be after I upgrade from the stock non-connecting flights (currently about 870).
I might even stay a full week, given that as you said, the Fri/Sat nights seem to be what jacks up the price the most.
Thanks

Going to be hard for you to book anything good since it's your first time. I checked and got some offers through my player's account that is significantly cheaper but you will need to have a player's card first before you can use these offers. Maybe try signing up online and getting a number/account? Not sure how that works to be honest since you have had no history of play with the casinos.

I agree with apachekeith, spend a little extra for the better hotel. Since you're staying for close to a week, you'll want a better room and location. On that note, I personally wouldn't choose Imperial Palace. It's pretty bad from what I heard from a buddy of mine. Also, booking flight and hotel separately can cost the same or less while allowing for greater flexibility. I find with expedia that the rates you get are for double occupancy, so not much of a deal when considered. As mentioned, try looking at Harrahs, Flamingo or Bally's. These hotels are pretty cheap and they are at the centre of the strip, very close to Caesars.

Hi,
If you don't want to sift through the mega Las Vegas thread, you can search this forum for smaller threads.

Did a quick search using travelocity.com, flying out of Buffalo with a hotel package for the Hilton hotel for $583. Hotel is off the strip, reviews are mixed. Still going to be better than Circus Circus, no angry parents with screaming kids. You're from Toronto, the desert heat is dry, you probably won't even break a sweat in the sun. If you're going to be choosy about which hotel to stay in, pick one with a decent pool. The better the pool, the better the pool side attractions;)
