Anyone experienced with kratom? It's legal and available in Canada through botanical shops or online. Drank as a tea, kratom enthusiasts seem to enjoy its mild and mellow effects. I would say like caffeine, it's a mildly addictive substance but with the high more toward the opiate end of the spectrum rather than the stimulant end, although strains vary. Having never tried it myself, I am somewhat curious.

I'm not sure if this is best for OT or the Health forum (not really a health product) and/or looking for deals. I was more looking for testimonials as well as where people purchase this.

Took some for the first time a month ago, I bought it online at "Madam Kratum". I made a tea with it using reduction and it tasted bitter and sour, not the most enjoyable taste so I mixed a lot of honey with it, still tasted bad. I took about 15-20 grams for my tea and the effects started after about 20-30 minutes and lasted for around 5 hours. It didn't feel like an opiate but I could definitely feel an effect, no hallucinations or anything but some euphoria, I actually continued working(programmer) and cleaned my basement while on its effects, I was very productive! Supposedly a higher dose will resemble opiates but do not effect breathing so there is less worry about respiratory failure(that's what I read before consuming). Online, people talked about feeling nauseous, this didn't happen to me except when trying to smoke pot, that made me so nauseous that I stayed next to the toilet bowl for about 10 minutes. All in all it was interesting and didn't cause me to lose my head but I don't really feel like having anymore for at least a few months.

If the thought of this being like an opiate or the nausea worry you then I suggest you try Kava instead. Kava is a Polynesian root that is legal pretty much everywhere except Germany and possibly Canada and its effects are much more mild, it's almost like a mix between pot and alcohol. When I was in Fidji the locals would have a cup every day around 3pm and even said they gave it to babies that were teething. I wouldn't recommend you give this to a baby though, definitely not culturally acceptable in Canada.

The way I calculated it a hundred grams would make about 6 cups but my dosage wasn't high compared to others I have read about on the internet. I bought a mix of different kinds and only tried the Golden Kalimantan one so far, I think it is Indonesian. It is very expensive if you just want to get high off something legal.

Exactly, but it's a different kind of buzz and if you take higher dosages you should start getting a high that resembles opiates.
