www.dealticker.com

I don't post a lot (serial lurker, sorry!) but this just made me so angry.
I'm not sure how people would come to think that a company selling hemming snaps ("e-accessories") would be able to get their paws on an unlimited supply of handmade shoes in a single discontinued style...? I posted to that effect (also that Tom's is of the opinion that they are counterfeit), but already 360 sold.
Perhaps these deal companies should be reminded that facilitating the sale of counterfeits and profiting from trademark violations is illegal?
Sorry, just frustrated at how many people have fallen for this! Hopefully this post will prevent at least one more from doing so.

Not trying to argue or anything, but can I ask how do you know it's counterfeit?
Cuz the discussion section has specific questions asking if they're authentic tom's and the site confirms it's authentic.

I also don't want to buy it if they're selling counterfeit products....:S

Well, of course the "merchant" is going to say they're authentic ;-)! There are a LOT of fake Tom's out there which is so confusing to me as they only cost about $60 a pair.
First of all, that style/colour has been discontinued for about a year. Even if they managed to get their hands on a pallet of old stock from a store or website that closed down or such, there would be a limited number available. Tom's is not going to handcraft thousands of pairs of past-season shoes for an unauthorized reseller who is selling them at half price, but you can see that there is an unlimited quantity available for purchase for individuals and "gifts".
If you look at the E-Accessories website, it's clear they are not normally in any part of the supply chain for clothing, much less one specific brand of footwear that *happens* to be widely knocked-off.
Hope this clarifies a bit!

Thank you for posting this!

I noticed the same thing yesterday, and promptly contacted TOMS customer service. They stated that "e-accessories.ca is NOT connected to TOMS and is NOT an authorized dealer".

Part of what makes TOMS so cool is they donate a pair of shoes for every pair purchased (One for One). TOMS support also said "we can not claim if they are fake or not - but the purchase will not be allocated for the One for One".

My thoughts are these shoes are fake. Why would they need 4-6 weeks for shipping if everything is being shipped from within Canada? It's because that's how long it will take their order to be placed and for the shipment to arrive from China... DealTicker has repeatedly deleted my posts where I mention e-accessories is not an authorized dealer, and that the One for One program will not benefit from any purchases made via DealTicker.

I suggest contacting TOMS to let them know about this. At the very least, it's a case of an unlicensed dealer selling genuine shoes. At the worst, it's all a big scam, and everything is counterfeit.

I found this deal too good to be true and I did a little bit of research. I found this post about someone purchasing an item from e-accessories.ca that I thought would be interesting to share.

I saw that TOMS Dealticker deal too, contacted TOMS about it and received no word back about whether they were real or not, Dealticker said that the retailer told them they were authentic. Emailed the retailer and asked if they were, no response. It is all a bit weird. And very lame to try and rip off people that think they are doing a good thing purchasing these shoes (for each purchased one goes to Africa).

I emailed Tom's when I first saw the deal and asked them to forward it to their trademark protection offices. Hopefully they can get it sorted before the deal ends. I'm glad that others have emailed them as well!

There was also the Dealticker / e-accessories fake Rayban deal last month. I wouldn't purchase anything from e-accessories expecting it to be genuine.

I thought they were fake just by the site "e accessories".

Also I went to the e accessories site and there did not seem to be a way to put in the size you want?
so that was kind of weird too.

I don't think I want to buy my shoes from a place that sells USB cables and water filters or whatever.

The only times I've gotten good deals on shoes- like 75% off is when some online stores they have one or two pairs left or end of season sale (like Zappos and 6pm.com the zappos clearance site).

There is too many of those "e accessory" crap sites popping up every day now- someone should make a list so they can be avoided.

Dealgetters has a similar deal now from apple-depot. Why a place that sells Apple cables would be selling shoes, I have no clue. SCAM.
Dealgetter's is for a black pair, yet the body of the text mentions light blue all the way through. Copy and paste job from the other site!

Now Ethical Deal has this offer, but they're offering any color (subject to availability) and do mention the 1 for 1 program.

"Apple depot" is the same address as goodbuyfirst which is doing the "swarovski" deals, which is the same address as a massage parlour.

They are doing it through Apple Depot as well. Or, rather, "did", as the deal sold out with 500+. Argh.

At least Ethicaldeal has ethics:

"Dear ethicalShoppers,

We recently featured TOMS shoes through Apple Depot. Unfortunately it wasn't until after the promotion ran that we learned that since Apple Depot doesn't have a direct selling relationship with TOMS that TOMS cannot honour the one-for-one campaign on these shoes.

We love TOMS because of their one-for-one campaign and want to support their ethical initiatives. As a statement of our core values, we have decided to issue full refunds to all ethicalShoppers that bought this deal. Due to the high volume of refunds, it may take up to 5 days for us to process your refund, and depending on your credit card provider, 3-5 business days to display the refund on your statement.

Rest assured that ethicalDeal has taken measures to ensure that this oversight does not happen again and that we continue to only promote products and companies that meet our criteria.

Yours for a sustainable future,

Annalea Krebs
Chief Ambassador of ethicalDeal."

they never got them. I am shocked that people are buying these again when there are warnings on several sites about buyer beware.

I WON'T GET THESE SHOES? I dont care if theyre not authentic, but I do want at least something for what I paid..?

EDIT: I lied, I don't want fake toms. I didn't realize how crappy they looked. Can I cancel this within 24 hours?

Just found this on a blog:

http://www.canadiandailydeals.com/2012/06/fake-toms-shoes-arrive-from-dealticker.html?spref=fb

Someone purchased the deal in April and received their Tom shoes just now - still some ongoing issues, indeed FAKES and wrong sizing to make things worse.

I wouldn't trust DealTicker for anything. They sell only knockoffs or made in china garbage. Most of their deals nowadays are for "crystal" jewelry or "swarovski" crystals. All fake.

As long as people knowingly (like the toms blog girl who admits she thought they were fake when purchasing, and then has the nerve to ***** about it?!?!!!) and unknowing buy/ support the bootleggers, they'll continue to sell.

You're keeping them in business!

Yes no sympathy at all for those foolish enough to buy this. We see it regularly here too on sunglasses etc "i dont care if they are fake as long as they look good", or "I know its too good to be true but it would be great deal if it is so im buying"

I just can't believe that many people can be so naive to think major brands would supply these mickey mouse websites at any price let alone at prices that let them undercut everyone else. It should just be common sense.

The ones whining on that blog, and they'll be whining for months, are too lazy to pick up the phone and call dealticker or their credit card company to see if they'd help.

In the cosique thread, after a long discussion about it being a scam you still get idiots expecting to receive their purchase

Okay, so I have actually ordered the Toms from dealticker 10 WEEKS AGO!!! They are supposed to have arrived 4-6 weeks, but somehow they still haven't arrived. I definitely suggest do not waste your time with dealticker (especially with products that are being mailed to you directly). I think if you're buying actual services such as massage and spa at a particular place then it'll be safer because they can't run away. The deal was with the company e-accessories, and they have yet to get back to me about when my product is arriving.. and there's no one to contact except them. I contacted dealticker and this is what they said, "As per e-Accessories returns and refund policy you will need to return your order back to e-Accessories before we can process a refund for you. E-Accessories has let us know that they will not be covering the shipping charges for the return of this order. Once e-Accessories has received the item they will inform us to process a refund for you." Does anyone know what to do if e-accessories do not reply??? :/

At this point I don't really care if they're real or not (even though dealticker claimed they're authentic), but I just want to know that I will be getting what I paid for and $40 bucks of it didn't go to a bunch of scammers.

you've read this thread, and don't understand you've already been scammed? You seriously still want to receive an item that will for sure be a low quality fake, and probably the wrong size?

Long past the promised delivery time?

Call your credit card company

"item not received"

Do not wait, do it now.

Wake up!!!!

Too lazy? seems like people are trying to get their money back, calling their credit card company and the company involved.

I never ordered the TOMS but my sister did. Turns out they are not authentic TOMS and of poor knock off quality to boot. Please take these measures to ensure you get your money back IF you have NOT YET RECEIVED your Toms; this post is for those who are still waiting for their order to ship:

My sister wrote:

Well, I'm making sure to unfollow all DealTicker posts! The TOMS deal is a total nightmare (ARGHH). I quickly wrote them and asked for a full stoppage on my order and for a full refund based on the outcomes of people's April orders (baaaaad fakes). Luckily, the June deal hasn't shipped yet...here's a copy of the letter I sent (thanks to a fellow gully) to their refunds dept. in case you need to too. BTW-within 24hrs of sending the email I rec'd confirmation that the refund would be complete within 48hrs. You bet I'll be on that like a hawk. (In fact, phone DealTicker 1.866.480.3011 to follow up)

"It has come to my attention that this product being sent out is a counterfeit product, and that people are experiencing many issues being sent incorrect sizes, and must pay for shipping in order to get the correct sizes.

I have not yet received this item, and would like to cancel my order for a full refund. It is completely unacceptable to be representing a company such as TOMS shoes, which does good charitable work, with poor-quality counterfeit products.

I paid for this voucher via Mastercard. Please phone me if you require the card no. although you should have it on file(Order#xxxxxx), Card# ends in #xxxx. I am requesting a full refund for this voucher/product."

This should bury Dealticker along with several other shady group websites. Good riddance.

For Groupon, it should hopefully be a smack upside the head to pay attention to what they are doing once they have to pay a few hundred thousand dollars in refunds to consumers.

I nearly bit into this deal back in April; then realized, wait a minute, why is it $29 and why would Toms do this when they're full retail at all the authorized dealers?

The fact that these group deal purchases indicates it's 6-8 weeks for delivery as well set off alarm bells. 6-8 weeks is the amount of time it takes to ship anything from ... wait for it... overseas (*ahem* China) especially on cheap merchandise.

Remember guys, there is nothing China won't replicate, even humans if they could!
