Center Island?

Bike riding around town?

Stroll through some nice neighbourhoods? (There was a thread somewhere recently about nice walks)

Classic movie at Bell Lightbox. Gives you a "ohh, now I see why that movie is well known"

Get a TTC Day Pass and just ride around the Streetcar and get off at neighbourhoods that look neat, vibrant, good food, etc. Queen Streetcar, especially going all the way to the end, esp. West side is pretty neat (feels like it'll keep going all the way to Sauga).

Kensington Market. Shop, browse, drink, eat.. or just walk down to Chinatown to eat.

I did not see the St. Lawrence Market on that list.

To be honest, St. Lawrence Market is just that...a market. Unless you're grocery shopping, there's no reason to go here as all you're looking at is meat and produce and you can easily complete the walkaround of this place within an hour even if you took your time.

Other places to add to that list:

- The walk from Humber River with that bridge and condos on Lakeshore going east to Ontario Place
- Stroll around Yorkville window shopping
- Woodbine beaches area / park is a nice place to walk
- Trampoline Dodgeball (yes, this is real, this is a new thing that everyone is doing now, lol!)

can't you do most of those activities anywhere? Pottery classes? Sky Diving? Indoor Rock Climbing?

Walk, Rollerblade or Bike (probably best) on the lakeshore right across the city.

Underground Mall right up till bloor. Stroll down Yonge street and maybe across Queen st to Spadina.

Piggy backing off Niagara Falls, but stopping by Niagara-on-the-lake isn't a bad idea either. Very cute town and stuff if you're into the site-seeing thing.

Or later in the summer, you can try stopping by one of those "pick your own fruit" places for an afternoon.

And if you're doing the CN tower thing, and feeling a bit like an adrenaline junky, you could try Edgewalk!!

Uuhh.... Thats why its a tourist attraction and why people like going there.... because its .... 'a market'.
Its the closest you can get to an open air market in Toronto.

I wouldn't say Lawrence market is a place to visit on a date/out. Eaton Centre or any other mall would be much better.

Take the underground PATH from Eatons to Front street.

Apr 19th, 2012, 09:54 PM
Harbourfront....people watch....take the boat trips around the harbour..
In the summer they have special vendors set up selling different things.....
And a free movie night (outdoors) on Tuesdays...
(summer stuff not posted yet on site however)
http://www.harbourfrontcentre.com/

I think Wag Gag or Groupon had a deal to take a Sailboat trip for 3 hours for $10 or something
Normally it is $20....still a good deal and awesome when it's sunny.
They also have regular tour boats that will do 1 hour or 2 hour tours :D

Kleinburg, that's where I live.

You have the Humber valley, where you can hike.

The mcmichael art gallery, home of the group seven.

The small town

Also another new attraction is going up in a coupe of years, that will include a museum/park. It's called the pierre Burton discovery center.

Also might see a bunch of exotic sports cars while our up here. Ferrari's and maserati's are always popular in the town.

Also the doctor's house is up here, great Sunday brunch.

Sugar Beach - just sit back, relax and enjoy the sun!

HTO Park - also another urban "beach" it's the one with yellow umbrellas at Queen's Quay/Simcoe I believe

Walk along the harbourfront from east to west... or west to east

Cherry blossoms at High Park

Any restaurants in Toronto that have a piano player?
What about places where there would be a nice soft, slow music and comfortable sofas/chairs?

I think you are looking for a Martini Bar? Do they exist anymore?

Other places, besides slow music and ambience, would be the Theatre District.

http://www.showmetoronto.com/toronto_tour_theatre_district.htm

I mean they might have some ambient, relaxed atmospheres, but they also have shows.

http://www.showmetoronto.com/toronto_theatres.htm

I can't remember the name of the specific one I am thinking of, but there are smaller theatres around the city as well. It was just wee bit north of Queen, a block or two before Spadina or John facing east. They can be really good for a different experience, but they are hit or miss, as the entertainment is focused more on the arts, and less on big budgets and stages. However, if your girlfriend or wife likes independent level arts, they can be worth it. jmo...

Go to a blue jay game. Plenty of seats are available, and they always need fans. The stadium itself is an amazing structure, and the view of the cn tower beside it, is amazing.

Call me sentimental, but I though exhibition stadium was actually better. But you're right, it's right downtown in the centre of the city, which makes it real easy to go from a game to something else. Not that I do that, but it's all fairly centralized.

Take your other half somewhere else less boring and more interesting. Don't waste your time and money in TO!!!!

I never got a chance to go to it, but do they still do Shakespeare in the park? Some people might not like it, but it's different. Seems like they might still be doing it but now it's called, "Dream in High Park"

Another option is to just go walking around the Entertainment district on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday and watch a movie at the Imax, or stop into a pub, or club, or one of the smaller bars. From what I remember the area gets more mature the closer one gets to King, the farther north there are larger clubs and younger crowds, until you start to move away from the entertainment district to either west, and there isn't really much to the east.

Shakespeare in the park is a good one.

There's a rooftop patio with a nice view.

Yeah, with $5 cover just to get into the elevator, and $12 for drinks, $8 for beer.

It's actually called Panorama Restaurant and Lounge.

It amounts to a pretty expensive night, and you at least should dress decent with all the wannabe ballers up there.

Trust me, at $12 for drinks, this is not the most expensive place to hang out/eat

I love dining out. My bill for 2 sometimes comes to about $250-300 for a 2 meals+wine.

I wouldn't say Lawrence market is a place to visit on a date/out. Eaton Centre or any other mall would be much better.

It is extremely popular on Saturday mornings. You and your s.o. can stroll the market, get supplies for a picnic lunch, or have brunch/lunch afterwards at the many cafes/restaurants in the area. Comparing it to a shopping mall is like apples and oranges.

8. Gun shooting...

Unless you plan on going into the ghetto, there will be no gun shooting in Toronto, thanks to Miller who thought banning legal shooting ranges in the city would prevent gun crime.

You can watch some live stand-up comedy. Yuk Yuk's has $4 amateur Tuesdays and Absolute Comedy has $6 pro/amateur Wednesdays. Both places also have pro nights, though they cost more.

If one or both of you is into science, the York University Observatory has free public viewing every Wednesday all year long.

You can also watch planes land/take-off at Pearson, but keep in mind you can't just park/stop anywhere along the airport's perimeter as it's a security issue and you may have to deal with cops. The Wendy's on Airport Rd. is apparently a popular and safe spot, but remember that planes probably don't land/take-off from that part of the airport 24/7, so you either have to find out the best times to go or just go in blind and hope you get lucky.

This might be an odd suggestion and it's not exclusively a couples activity but there's a rather big church at Finch/Hwy 400 called The Prayer Palace that I think is one of the largest churches in the city and maybe even in the country. It's quite a change of scenery if you spent your childhood or adult years in those smaller, old-fashioned churches. I haven't been religious for a long time but I still went to see this place and the size, layout, and lighting was really something, especially if you choose to massage your lungs with cannabis beforehand.

dazz, regarding medieval times on your list - unless you're 8-10 years old, the novelty of this place wears off really fast. For $60 per person there are better ways to spend that money instead of here.

Pioneer Village

I guess it depends on your interests, but I did a double date there and it was really nice. There's some grassy areas off from the buildings that's perfect for a picnic, or you can eat in the old style restaurant. There's lots of little buildings, and since you won't be dragging kids around with you, you can actually stop and talk with the workers about the history of the places and things inside.

The only thing that sucks is the travel time. I guess noone mentioned it yet because it's almost out of Toronto (I was going to say "it's not really Toronto" but Jane and Finch *technically* is 'in the city')

St Lawrence market on Sun is an antique market, if you are into those stuffs, its very cool to look through nicnac and find some thing that remind you of your old home or your childhood.
Add: Little Italy on College st . The bar ( I think it calls Flamingo) right at the corner of Bathurst and College, they teach Salsa for free, upstairs.
Add: Second city
Add: Dinner in live theatre in Whitby

Writing these stuffs down make me feel so old, as I don't do to these places for a very long time already,

Comedy bars are always fun. So is karaoke.
You could have a picnic by the beach or in a park.
Casa Loma is another place that's fun when using cannabis (just don't get lost in the tunnels).
Check out some public lectures/performances at UofT or other unis.
I'm not sure if someone already mentioned the ROM, don't remember seeing it, and their prices are lower now, finally. Plus they have a friday night series for the summer for adults, full out bar, food, exhibits, haven't been yet though.
You could go on a haunted house tour of the gta if you're into that (something I'd like to do).
Helicopter tour of toronto.

So many things to do, you could do several different things every day of the year.
