Haven't been around this area before but I heard it's pretty dangerous. How likely am I to get jumped at around 11:30.

Not a bad area at all just don't go out looking for trouble. Why do you ask?

All of the GTA is pretty tame. It's always amusing when all of the hypersensitive raised-in-a-bubble children here make statements like "xxx is a ghetto", or "I won't go to yyy because I think I'll get shot"... as if they knew what a real ghetto area was like.

You shouldn't worry about getting jumped... you should worry about getting Ragu-ed.

+1

I always find this funny too.

I'm not from Toronto, when i moved here for school i got $hit-faced one night and ended up wandering through connections (40 turf grassway) trying to find my way home. The next morning my friends told me i was lucky that i wasn't killed because of some crap they saw on this "The Real Toronto" documentary. I just laughed... This happened several times in different areas of that hood, never once did i have a problem.

Don't be a puss, if you're timid than you might as well stay inside where your mom can hold your hand.

You are more likely to have a plane fall on top of you (pearson flight path goes right through there) then getting jumped at that intersection.

My optometrist is right there. The area isn't the greatest, but there are some really nice houses in pockets surrounding it and definitely south of there. It's far from dangerous, just kinda run down.

You try walking thru this area at midnight when you're suddenly accosted by a group of Somali "youth" that have been chewing on khat all day looking to relieve you of your belongings. You don't read the Tornto papers I see.

I do read them. Perhaps you can link to the stories of this happening frequently?

That area in well known for Gang activities for years and years. So night time is dangerous at certain intersections and also at some rental apartments/Condos. But it can happen anywhere.

LMAO at a poster. "I live at St. Clair but my optometrists is at that location."

"I live at St. Clair but my optometrists is at that location."

Yeah, that's soooooo unbelievable that I'd have an optometrist I've retained since I was young, especially since I have a serious condition with my eyes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macular_degeneration).

You are really terrible at even basic cognitive skills. Seek help.

You're right, cancer and a genetic eye condition requiring bi-yearly laser surgery on my retina is just minor whinging. But I shouldn't expect basic thinking skills from a subhuman, barely-literate clod like you. I find it laughable that you have such a boner for me that you have to regurgitate my own posts rather than coming up with opinions of your own. Dance, puppet.

This was your opinion before so whatever you said actually applies to you.
And now we know from where the anger is from.
Your anger is not actually against Fords or other who disagrees with you.
If you cant take something on da Interwebz forums you have serious issues.

You sure have no clue about that area or recent Edmonton news about Gang Violence (Imports from This area Somali Gangs)

So instead of berating me or Fords or others, read some newspaper (Star) and calm down.
But if that berating, name calling makes you haapy RFD is glad.

Why don't you too love birds go get a room, kiss and make up - or even better.... keep the personal attacks to PM's so the rest of us don't have to read your crap.

If the OP is a male 20+ y.o. and minding his own business, I'd say it is safe. For a single female or a teen things might be different...

instead of just guessing you can actually pull the crime stats (http://www.torontopolice.on.ca/statistics/crime_indicators.php?d23) for that division (23)

0 murders this year.

I like this site. Get e-mail alerts every day for two locations. I think the data is gathered from TP like said above.

Zero? But that's unpossible for such a dangerous area!

Not the worst in the city, but certainly not the safest. My family has lived at Kipling/Eglinton area for a long time. What you need to worry about are groups of bored Somali gangsters/teenagers with nothing better to do than rob you. I would not walk around that area alone at 11:30pm.

i work in this neighbourhood, actually down the street.

exatly north of that is old, far south is rich. Where Kipling and Dixon is, it's alright. I wouldn't be too worried.

Must've come a long way since Stephen Harper went to high school there. Kipling/Eglinton is not bad at all and while there are some condos around, they are surrounded by $800K-1M homes as r1lee says.

Is west of that intersection (Dixon and Martingrove) safer?

Planning to go to AN in about a month and just wondering if me and my friend should be careful in that area and west of it.

Is west of that intersection (Dixon and Martingrove) safer?Dixon and Martingrove is devoid of population after dark. Couple of Airport Hotels, Congress Center, some commercial real estate, that's it. No permanent population there...
