Hey guys gonna buy a couple new pieces of luggage, mainly a 28' and a 30'. If money/price doesnt matter how would you rank these 3 brands: Travelpro, Ricardo of BH and Samsonite?
Thanks in advance for the feedback, both pos and neg....

Samsonite #1 the only luggage brand i've used BUt you can always get LV their history is in luggage if price isn't an issue :D
Samsonite will eventually get destroyed but it will give you a few tours before the handlers finally kill it.
Sears has their "Sears Days" 60% off luggage i believe?

Travel pro is the best. Lots of airline crew use this brand. Second is samsonite. Don't waste money on other brands and don't buy those plastic suitcases..

Aircrew don't have to check their bags and primarily only have carry on size luggage. Their luggage is never handled by the baggage smashers. It is not a valid comparison.
OP, I don't know how much you travel but if you travel a lot, then the lightest you can buy is probably best for you. Airlines are starting to charge for luggage and weight is important. Also, dimensions are begin checked a lot lately and more so in the future so make sure it is the size they allow (LxWxH). Check the warranty. Some warranties are very good (Heys for instance) others are useless.

These are really good

The newest generation of these robust rolling duffles is lighter, less expensive, and quieter. So it’s easier than ever to tote all your outdoor toys along.
Hollow-fibre nylon and streamlined designs have shaved the weight of the 70 by 15%, the 100 by 35% and the 150 by an awesome 41%. Rubberized corners fend off the wear and tear of luggage conveyor belts. And get ready not to rumble, thanks to improved wheel sets.
The two smaller sizes have telescopic handles; the largest is tall enough to need only a regular handle. All three handles are now more rounded and rubberized for comfort and grip, and recess quickly into moulded wells on the bag tops.
Lockable zippers on main compartments.
Internal compression straps keep your stuff secure.
Zippered internal shoe bags keep your clothes cleaner.
Name tag holders on back fit standard business cards.

A lot of this is covered in other threads on RFD....
http://forums.redflagdeals.com/recomend-luggage-brand-1162053/
In short,
* most luggage brands sold in Canada are made by the same people with just different names - just look at the luggage closely and you will see a lot of similarities...
* most luggage is only built (and warrantied) to last a few trips due to things like wear and tear which is not covered by the warranty.
* Pick a luggage brand with the best warranty and a company with a proven record that will stand by the warranty.
If price isn't a concern and you are looking for set that will last you YEARS (if not the rest of your life), look at Briggs and Riley. I've detailed my views on the B&R in the thread linked above.
And by the way, think long and hard about getting that 30" piece. I've found that a full 30" piece of luggage will generally be over the 50 lbs weight limit of most airlines... It's generally cheaper to check in two bags rather one over weight one.

Thanks for the advice guys. here's a bit more info to maybe help narrow the search. I go on about 2-3 trips a year. All 1 wk all inclusive vacations to cuba n mexico type. I've every time used a 28" chaps bad non spinner set. It has lasted now 7 trips but the front pocket got completely ripped off, Thanks cancun for that.
As long as I get a bag thats under 10lbs then I'm not too concerned with weight as i've never gone over thus far wit my chaps, and its only small vacations i'm taking and never to the US where its usually a lil pricer for weight and luggage.
I'm getting a good employee discount on top of a 75% deal on luggae and after checking out some of the luggage the tops brands I saw were Travelpro, Samsonite and Ricardo of BH. I did see Delsey, but I don't trust that brand anymore. My mother bought a 3 piece Delsey set right b4 xmas, used it to go to Atlanta and 1 wheel broke on 1 bag, the other bag the handle came completely off. Yes, I know it has a warranty it can get fixed easily but still the pain and annoyance of walking around an airport with busted up luggage is something I wish to avoid.
Alot of the other brands that were mentioned in this thread are not available in the store.

Most of the brands you mentioned are made by the Holiday Group... so if you don't trust one....

Not on your list and not part of your employee discount probably, but I bought the 2 packs of Heys suitcases at Costco.
They're warrantied for 3 or 5 years and then you still have the Costco satisfaction guarantee on top of that.
Mine have held up so far after 3 or 4 trips.
I previously bought a set of McBrine luggage from Costco.ca, one of the cases broke after the first trip, Costco refunded my money.
Last week I saw a set of I think 26 inch and 30 inch Heys for $139.99 at Costco.

More like 75+ pounds for a typical fully-packed 30-incher. And you'll curse it just as much as all the cabbies and airline personnel and bellhops will, because it'll be a b**** to drag around. The average traveler rarely has real need of such a behemoth.

These have their place but they're not for everybody, or for every trip. Because of the restricted openings they're extremely difficult to keep clothing neatly folded in, and heaven help you if a customs officer decides to pull everything out for a detailed look-see, because after the inevitable hasty repack (read: re-stuffing) you're only going to have a crumpled load of laundry waiting for you when you arrive at your destination. Packing in anything dressy like a suit is out of the question. And besides, nobody (at least nobody with any brains) is going to go on a business trip with an MEC duffle.

If you're thinking of purchasing Heys, I strongly suggest buying it from Heys website instead of Sears. The prices work out cheaper even with shipping, and its shipped the next day.
Also, when buying hard side luggage, look for 100% poly carbonate as opposed to polycarbonate composite. The polycarbonate composite will crack faster .

Samsonite has never let me down.
Ricardo is a questionable department-store brand. Reputable specialty luggage dealers don't carry it, which otta tell you something. The Bay (where you work) carries it because your American cousin, Macy's, carries it.
Travelpro was once exceptional but I've heard it's now pretty much run-of-the-mill since the brand was bought by another luggage manufacturer. Airline crews use it because they get great deals on it (the brand originated with a pilot for NorthWest Airlines.) Frankly I don't trust any brand that is marketed in Canada by Holiday Luggage, based on my previous experiences with their other brands of garbage.

That's most luggage that goes on sale for over 50% off!
Buy a good set with an excellent warranty once and it will be the best value luggage purchase of your life.
