The U.S. has the most procedures in total, but South Korea has the most on a per capita basis - skin whitening I presume?

Do any ethnic Koreans naturally have the western-style eyelids?

Or is it purely artificial, such that if you see a Korean person with eyelids like this you can be sure they are fake?

some have 'em naturally and some don't. those who have it naturally are in the minority though.

asians have smaller eyes. asians, especially koreans, get those eyelids surgery to make their eyes bigger and to look more caucasian. there is no such thing as western style eyelids

I'm Korean and I have the double eyes lids... mine developed naturally when I was a kid. So did my mom and dad, but none of their siblings have them nor any of my cousins... this includes my sister.

She got the operation during a family trip to Korea.

Heard its a huge industry over there. Know a few that have done it; eyelids, nose, jawbone.

I used to be really against it, but sitting down to think about it; why?

Its just like braces or facial reconstruction surgery; just one step further. Going from ugly to normal, normal to pretty.

I still shudder at the thought of being under the knife, but I think its better than implants.

I'm disappointed in the US. I thought they'd be in the top 2 at least. L.A and Las Vegas is like plastic central

Marilyn Monroe had plastic surgery. Chin implant and a nose job, done by the Studio, I believe. It sure worked out well for her, career-wise.

That said, I still think it's being fake to have plastic surgery. People need to work with their natural features, and born-beautiful people need to read a book once in a while.

My view of plastic surgery has liberalized through the years. The alteration of the natural body is rampant and widespread. We introduce plenty of foreign substances to the body to help of improve on the natural whether medicine, hair color, protein power or plastic surgery. Just because these enhancements are done because of aesthetics rather than medical necessity I don't think it should be considered in a negative light. Even though this is something I continue to work on when 'judging' other people. Ultimately I would have people happy with their own sense of self. If that means getting a procedure or two then go at it. But they should know the risks involved.
