@ Jane and Finch..

Damn I wonder where the kid got the gun from.
I'd understand if it was highschool, but this is middle school

(This is NOT about Indians in Brampton, or Chinese in Markham, or Chinese dating, or Mainland China vs Canada vs USA vs Hong Kong vs Asians)

I remember years ago someone showing off a gun to me at school. That was high school though. Way outside of Toronto.

They don't even say what kind of firearm it is. My guess is it an antique from their parents antique gun collection.

Either that or it's a fully automatic glock.

I wouldn't be surprised if the 'firearm' turns out to be an airsoft or pellet gun.

I thought at Jane and Finch it was part of the school uniform.

Article said it was a .38 Colt revolver

It appears the Star article was edited after I posted. Previously it was really vague on details, and they said they couldn't release details because the offender is a minor.

Rather, it's an end-user issue.

gun's aren't dangerous, it is the user that is.

here is a solution:
1) Build a 100 foot high wall around the area of jane & finch, ensuring all residents and their friends/family are forced to stay within these walls
2) supply the area with the "right amount" of guns, ammo, knives, etc.
3) place 1080p cameras at strategic locations
4) sprnkle some cash by the cameras
5) ....
6) jane & finch problem solved
7) profit?

Wasn't there a murder at this school a little while back? It's 60% Caribbean and SE Asian IIRC.

Guns aren't dangerous, it's the user. My friend's dad grew up on the prairies, they'd bring their guns onto the schoolbus cause they'd go hunting or shoot gophers or crows (to claim bounties) after school. Different times now. But the issue isn't guns, it's people.

That would make a great reality TV show.

Then, when the ratings get low, we do this:
1) Build a 100 foot high wall around the area of jane & finch, ensuring all residents and their friends/family are forced to stay within these walls
2) Fill it with cement
3) Create Parking lot
4) ............................Reduce crime greatly..?
4) PROFIT off parking and reduced crime!??!!?

Guns are dangerous. Users of a gun could be dangerous depending on how it is used.

Guns are dangerous.

If that is so, then why is it safer to shoot at a Canadian range than it is to play ping-pong? Look into the statistics. Shooting is just about the safest sport you can take part in. The range I shoot at hasn't had an accident since it opened in the 50s.

It is all about the person behind the trigger.

I did not say they can not be used safely, but guns in itself are dangerous. They have only one use/function.

Awesome Idea. It's great to know that people are concerned with the many honest people living in this community that are victims of crime and stigmatization. Disgusting.

Umm, no, target practice is a legitimate sport, droc. It takes skill to be able to hit something the size of a dinner plate at 600 metres. I know many folks who have no interest in hunting, who enjoy target shooting. You may not be able to relate to it as a city boy (did you vote for Miller?), but there are hundreds of thousands of people who do it on the back 40 or on the local range.

If you have any motivation in your soul, you will not live there. I've scoped out housing and apartments in the general area and was offered crack multiple times right up to Keele & Finch. And this, was in front of landlords and in lobbies of apartments.

I didn't have much $ at the time, so I entertained living there, but I valued my self at higher than that.

Wouldn't that be a real life reality show version of
1) Escape from L.A.
2) Battle Royale (Japanese movie)
3) The Hunger Games

People who live in the Jane & Finch are not animals. They have the same rights as regular Canadians. It's crazy to think we need to do it "Escape from L.A." style type of control on the population. What the government need to do it's raise the property values in the area. Have the celebrities to move into the area (Drake and Knaan) to build large mansion. Then this area will easily disappear into a normal neighbourhood. Works in New York, why not here.

Of course when I heard it in the news. I was like "how the heck do kids get a gun to bring to school". Googled the school name. Oh, no wonder. Jane & " ". Not surprised.

You wait: this little sh*tbag will NOT get expelled. He'll get a brief suspension, and that's it. This is the kind of mentality we're dealing with with school boards and administrators these days.

Any one he wants. Thanks to McGuinty, you can't throw a kid out of school permanently before he turns 18.

gun's aren't dangerous, it is the user that is.

It is the combination of gun + user that is dangerous.
Without the gun, the user by himself is a pansyassed coward.

Agreed, these people, for the most part, are just people, what won't happen is a huge upswing in property values and people with lots of money moving in.

What would make sense is something like what's happening downtown with the rejuvenation of Regent park, the problem is that the area is much larger with a huge population.

What also needs to happen is that the "baby daddy" actually does his job as a parent, and teaches the kid to the a good member of the community.
