My wife ordered 5 hand bags from China. Shipped express with DHL. Driver come today and leaves order with my 21 year old son. Paid 20 custom fee. My wife gets home opens box and there are only 4 bags instead of 5. Live chatted with China exporter who blames customs or DHL but adamant about shipping 5 not 4 bags.

I don't think customs would jeopardize job over something like this. I suspect DHL who will "investigate". Not holding my breath. Paid with paypal but don't feel right about complaining as I really don't know who's to blame.

Who do you suspect?

Did the box look tampered with? Was it opened by customs? If not then shipper maybe

Suspect the chinese sellers. They are rats.

Never trust them is rule number 1 imo.

This. Why wouldn't pertinent details such as the above be included in the OP?

Box was opened and then taped over again by DHL tape with caption "opened and resealed for customs purposes".

Chinese exporter is adamant its not from their end and blamed customs here for stealing bag.

Lifted bag looks no different than other bags.

The last time something of mine was inspected by customs, the tape that was used to reseal the box indicated it was opened by customs and not by transporter. When our sons, who received the box, were told that 1 bag was missing, they thought that the guy who delivered the box is suspect # 1. He showed up at the door with his cel phone stuck to his ear chatting away with someone and having a great time, very unprofessional.

I got a call fro DHL this morning and I sent them a picture of the missing bag. Not holding my breath.

IMO I would suspect the seller, Customs for sure I know won't take your package. As for the CP employee I don't think he would too but I don't know.. Just not worth losing your job for a china made bag.

Buying from this seller was supposed to be an ongoing thing, not just a one off deal. Their support before, during and after purchase is good. I don't think Cdn. customs agents would steel a bag when they can make thousand from other more lucrative illicit activities. DHL people are on the top of my list.

Might be DHL employee.. Can you pick a different courier when using the same seller?
Probably best to keep ordering whatever you want and to pick a different courier and see If you still have missing items.

Either It would be the seller purposely not putting them In or all the couriers are scammers taking your stuff!

Of course this would happen with DHL. Always does. The couriers can do there own customs clearance too I believe? If not then they have no right to open your box.

You could say the same about the DHL people. Charges were $20 on 5 bags, that's $4 per bag, so a bag is worth about $30 each. Would someone be so dumb to risk their job for a $30 bag? Possibly.

If customs opened the bag and saw 4 bags instead of 5, surely there would be some kind of paperwork/note about this. If there's not, then DHL do look suspicious.

You'll never prove anything though, no matter what happened.

This is my dilemma. There are suspects but no convictions.

You bought 5 bags, you received 4. Take it up with the seller. It is their responsibility to get you what you ordered. I don't know why you take the stance who do you suspect the most. The delivery guy although he may have been unprofessional has no interest in your bags. Customs has no interest in taking your bags unless they confiscated it for being an illegal knock off. What does the paper work say?

I don't really think you should worry yourself as to who the suspect is because you'll never know. It seems silly to start pointing fingers at people; instead go through the proper channels to make your claim.

These are $5 bags? If so, someone should just fork over the $5 and make the problem go away. Usually, that would be the seller.

BTW, its my view (right or wrong) that until an item is in my hands, its entirely the sellers risk if anything happens to it along the way. If I pay for it, I'd better get it or I go to the CC company or paypal or whatever.
