Hi everyone got a quick question that I need answered asap.

First, I bought a Galaxy Note that was unlocked and originally Rogers. Today, I traded it to someone who is on Telus. But, he's telling me that the phone actually isn't unlocked and it asks him for an unlock code when putting in his sim.

Before I traded the Note to him, I was gonna unroot the phone and flash a stock rom on it. Since he's on Telus I flashed a stock Telus rom off XDA, stock Telus kernel and stock Telus recovery all on the Note. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but has any of this affected the phone being unlocked? Or was it not unlocked in the first place?

If it wasn't unlocked in the first place, when getting an unlock code, it asks for the phones model number. It originally being a Rogers Note is it a i717R (Rogers) or since I flashed all the Telus stuff on it is it a i717D(Telus) because the phone is shown as a i717D in the settings?

Can someone please help quick!? It'll be greatly appreciated!

Your best bet would be to unlock it via some of the cell unlocking websites. Other than that, I don't know what else to recommend..

IF you bought it from Rogers, then it wasn't unlocked.

So i would root the phone if it already isn't and try and use the Galaxy_S Unlock app from the market.
I read on XDA that it worked for some users. Its worth a try.

Thanks guys. I bought the Note off someone on here.

I'm going to use a cell unlock site so I'll ask this again,

If it wasn't unlocked in the first place, when getting an unlock code, it asks for the phones model number. It originally being a Rogers Note is it a i717R (Rogers) or since I flashed all the Telus stuff on it is it a i717D(Telus) because the phone is shown as a i717D in the settings?

edit: nvm, i think it'll be an i717r as it asks for an unlock code when a telus sim is put into it. thanks for the help!

Honestly, i dont think it matters because they are essentially the same device just with changes in bloatware

Based on my experience, I think the best method for getting an unlock code would be to provide the imei.

Based on my limited experience, a phone that was unlocked by code wouldn't re-lock from flashing roms.

sorry for bumping this thread but

i bought an unlock code from cellunlocker and don't have a non-accepted sim. would a blank prepaid sim card work to unlock the phone?

you need a sim from another carrier; either local or national or international.
