No matter whether I'm gone 2 minutes or 2 hours, my dogs act like seeing me again is the greatest thing on earth. They love me unconditionally and the happiness they show when I come home cannot be described in words.

This reminds me of this touching video I saw on gawker
http://gawker.com/5905733/soldier-back-from-tour-of-duty-surprises-his-dog-with-fetching-fakeout

But when I come home, even from a month-ish long vacation, my dog excitedly greets me for like a few minutes and then she's over it and following whoever has food

Old joke... How to tell which is your best friend, your wife or your dog. Put them both in the trunk of your car for half an hour. When you open the trunk, see who is really happy to see you.

I kid, I kid...

Ya I hear ya. Whenever I'm out of town on business, my wife tells me our dog sleeps by the door (she always sleeps on our bed). I figure she knows I'm gone and is waiting for me to walk through the door.

My wife doesn't do that! lol

true this.....our puppy gets so happy to see me....brings so much joy to our hearts...

She gets so excited that she runs around the main floor in circles...running from kitchen to living room and then back into the den..

She gets so tired afterwards that she needs to drink lots of water.....so cute....

Dogs just have this desire to please that seems to be rare in most animals. And even tough a dog may frustrate or even make you angry .. it's really difficult to stay mad at them.

It's like the old joke.

Want to find out who loves you the most and who your real best friend is? Lock your wife and dog in the trunk of your car.
Come back 2 hours later. Which one still loves you and is happy to see you?

This is why I do not have a dog. They need more than just food, water and a place to poop and I know I just can't meet the needs of a dog right now - I just wish some of my neighbours realized this before they got that cute little puppy that they never walk.

A dog never judges you either so I can do whatever the hell I want:)
