First link shows the buffer at it's standard price, $99.99

Second link, if you click the little "Car Care" blob in the randomized advertisement banner at the top, shows it as 50% off!

If it's 50% off I want it =)

The Simmonz is junk.

This is a good machine and a good price.

Eshine is located in Fort Erie and they have great products and waxes as well. I've had good success with the poor boys line of products.

CTC has the porter cable as well for $199 but they don't carry appropriate pads and accessories you will need so might as well order from eshine which they ship free on orders over $150

so if they told you it's 50% off 1000$ you would buy it just because it's on special? :|

a lot of stores over-inflate the prices of their products. you need to do more research before making 100+$ purchases.

If it's 50% off that would make it $50. I can afford to take a chance on a $50 polisher.

IMO it's not even worth the $50. You won't do much buffing with that unit because it's only good for applying wax and polish. You can do the same job by hand.

The one ROB187 recommended (Porter Cable 7424XP) is good because you can adjust the speed and actually deal with abrasions on the clearcoat (swirls, light scratches, etc)

Its actually only classified as a "waxer" it doesn't have the power to polish. For a beginner I'm tellin you, go for the porter cable. I spent about $300 last year and turned my 10 year old black car from a dull swirl covered eyesore to a shiny black wet glass looking finish. My advice is based on days of research and my own trial and error. Good luck with your detailing hobby! Also I believe this is in the wrong forum!

If you are looking to clean up the paint on your car, heres how I started off and it worked out very well.

Basically the process is, clean your car. CLEAN your car, make sure its really clean. You can also look up clay bar to remove imperfections in the paint to prep for polishing.

Start off with a heavy pad and SSR3 to get rid of deeper scratches and swirls, move on to the SSR2 with the lighter cutting pads. Apply the glaze. Finish off with wax/sealant. Car should look mint if done correctly.

The Porter Cable is a random orbit polisher which is good to start off with. If you start with a direct drive polisher you could burn your paint off and wreck what you are trying to improve. With the porter cable this is pretty much impossible to do.

Porter Cable 7424XP Swirl Buster Kit 6.5" Pads
Get the following pads, Yellow, Orange, White, Black

Poorboy's Super Swirl Remover 2 (16 oz) (use yellow or white pad)
Poorboy's Super Swirl Remover 3 (16 oz) (Use orange pad)

- Pick one of the following depending on dark or light paint on your car
Poorboy's White Diamond Show Glaze for Light Vehicles (16oz) (use black pad to apply)
Poorboy's Black Hole Show Glaze for Dark Vehicles (16oz) (use black pad to apply)

- Finish off with a carnuba wax/sealant
Poorboy's EX Sealant (16 oz) (use black pad to apply)

Also buy some Cookie Monster towels, they are very nice =)

If your familiar with Newsgroups.. Theres a video on there called How-To use the Porter Cable_For Showcar Results. I think this video can also be purchased if you google it.

Anyhow, Good luck!

IMO most of the products at CTC are junk and you wont get any results and end up discouraged and wind up having to pay to take your car in for a 3-Stage polish which can cost upwards of $300. Using the above products you can detail your car multiple times and possibly even make a few bucks doing friends cars once you get the hang of it.
