Why did the bikini lady get kicked out. What is the bare dress code?

She didn't meet Wal Mart standards. In other words, people threw up upon seeing her. If she was hot, they would let her keep shopping as it would attract more male shoppers. Bare dress code? A bikini.

I just did. To me Wal Mart is the only place I can do most of my shopping in one location. I wouldn't be caught in Zellers.

Would you say walmart is for the poors?

Not at all. If you go to the ones in Richmond Hill and Markham, take note of the Audis, BMWs, Mercedes, Lexus and Porches. At summer there is the occasional Ferrari, Lamboghini and Maserati at the Jane/Hwy 7 and Vaughan West location.

Why does walmart treat its customers like crap. I probably go there about 3 times a year. Invariably, 25% of the cash registers are open and the line up is 15 people deep. I think they tried it, but it looks like too many of the clientele think self serve payment equates to help yourself, lol.

Yes I am aware of Costco. But they sell stuff in big packages. And I don't have a large family. Also no space in my house for an extra cooler/freezer.

As for Target. They are a bit upper class compared to wally world. Their food will be more expensive since they will be sourcing it from Sobeys. Also the closest Target to me will be the one at Jane & Finch. More driving, more $$$.

From my experience in shopping at wal mart, I notice that it is the customers that are giving the stores a bad rep. There are a few bad wally associates but the customers are the biggest problem. I have seen customers berating managers for something that they deserve. One time at a register, a customer was pm'ing a cereal from Fortinos and the cashier kept telling her it is the wrong size. The one at Fortinos is a smaller one than what they carry and the customer kepting demanding it saying the "customer is always right!"

Wal mart like any other supermarket cannot open all registers at all times. Only at weekends. It is inefficient to have cashiers standing at a register waiting to cash someone out. Self serve payment was a bust to wal mart. I have seen people inputting the banana code to pay for pistachios! This is usually done when it is busy and the rep cannot look at everyone. Also some customers intentionally pretend they swipe the item and then throw it back in the cart!

How? The exact process ......

Simple. When I enter a wal mart, I head straight to mac donalds and buy a coffee. Sipping it while shopping takes my mind of it. Also it helps to pass by the lingerie section and take a look at the girls checking out bras and undies!:)

For seasonal items, as soon as the occasion pass, they clear it out. Think of Easter, summer, halloween and xmas. Other stuff from what I am told, when the shelves needs to be redo, whatever is removed is markdown to make way for the new stuff. As for the 40cents off a $10 item, I have never see that.

I will try to be as kind as possible. Really, you are out of your tree. When there is all of 2 cashiers on the floor and the lineup is a mile long, you want to blame the customer? I don't buy the excuse that it is not cost effective to put extra staff at the cash registers instead of sustaining mile long line ups. The customer is merely forced to live with sub standard service. Too bad, so many don't know any better. Even if I were to save the 2% on an item, the half hour long line up will nullify that 10 times over. I recommend people who have more important things to do than wasting away in line ups to boycott walmart.

Walmart actually brags about the long lines and lack of cashiers to shareholders. A friend who is a shareholder told me this. They save money on cashiers and think that most customers will forget about the line up when they see how much money they saved. I'm not one of them. I have put my purchases down and walked out on many occasions. Other times I just avoid going there altogether. The only reason I tend to go there now is there are a couple of OTC products that I use regularly that they carry and I can pay for them and a few other things at the pharmacy to avoid the lines. I only go there at off peak times of the day. I wouldn't dare go on a weekend.

Maybe you should open a supermarket and have all the registers open throughout the day.

I worked in a large grocery store when I was a student. We had 20 registers and on a Saturday, they would all be open. At other times, we would grab staff and put them on cash if there was a lineup. There were always extra people you could pull off another job and put them on cash. We never closed down a register, we always had another cashier ready to step in. Part of my job was to manage the cashiers so I know it can be done if they wanted to.

I knew they used to have these before! They need more of those express lines around, <=5 items and self serve should work. That and the stupid costco-esque line setup they have in soem of them where you the carts go side to side and you have two sets of cashiers in one 'column' There's always the stupid customer that can't move their cart out of the way properly and blocks the way to the next cashier!!

+1. They are open late, have almost everything.

Some walmart stores are absolutely terrible, but the newer "Super Centre" stores are pretty good. The food products are great, the line of Trader Joes(I can't remember the actual name) knockoff bulk products (nuts, trail mix, etc) are great, plus the rest of the stuff is pretty good. They don't have the greatest selection, but its pretty good.

I've heard both those things before which I don't really get.

The lines there seem about the same as as other stores as do the prices. Sure sometimes the lines are long or there's a great deal but that's true for other stores as well I've found.

lol Wal-Mart can be pretty hit or miss with the open cash:customer ratio. I actually find even though the store is a whole lot busier on the weekends I can get in and out much quicker than even early morning weekdays when the store has maybe a couple dozen customers. Weekends they have almost all the cash registers open including all the express lanes (at my local one, they converted the self-checkout to express lanes that are one line for 6 or so registers, on both ends of the store) while during the weekday mornings they'll have maybe one express cash open on each end and 1 regular cash. I absolutely hate standing in line so actually prefer a busier store if it's a quicker check-out.

Lately I've been going to Wal-Mart less and less for groceries unless I have something to pricematch. Especially since the Eglinton/Warden location changed around their layout. They seem to be catering way more to the ethnic demographic with more shelf space dedicated to Asian products, probably trying to take a cue from the nearby No Frills. But I still go there fairly frequently for general shopping.

Spoke to a couple of department managers and to wal mart, every department is "seasonal". All departments gets redo twice a year and during those times, what is no longer "modular" is put on clearance. Toys for example will get a redo this August in preparation for Xmas. Sports will also get a redo during this time, whereas summer items if not sold out will be put on clearance. Also they said it is up to the vendors to put stuff on clearance as they are the ones who will be fronting the cost. Hope that helps.

Easy, provided the flyer is detailed and specifically states what size/which item is on sale.

Difficult, if the flyer states "Valid on Select Varieties/Sizes Only" and doesn't explicitly state anything, which Shoppers Drug Mart tends to do often.

They do PM Chinese groceries if it is in the local area. You cannot take a Markham Chinese supermarket flyer and take it across municipal borders into Scarborough to use for example. It has to be local competition.

In my experience, it's hit and miss with some of them. T&T they have, but the smaller ones like Skyland and such not so much...or maybe I'm getting it confused with RCSS o.O

10 if the flier clearly states sizes.
As for the smaller Chinese supermarkets, they won't pm meat or produce as the quality isn't the same.

From experience, this is not true. I have used Foody Mart(?) flier many times and pm at the wal mart at Steeles & Markham Road.

Scarborough ones treat me the same. As long I got money, I get respect.

What is the price range of their safety footwear? And do they have safety shoes as well as boots?

That's because Foody Mart is actually a local competitor in both Markham & Scarborough.

There's one at Warden/Finch (Scarborough) and McCowan/Hwy 7 (Markham).

dear op and wal mart expert,

a few months ago i noticed your esteemed shopping centre carried giant reeses cups

taking my opportunities for granted, i didn't grab it at that time, thinking i could go back any time and still be able to buy it

i was wrong

since then i have been to all the wal marts here in scarborough and have not spotted it once

the longing and the regret are making me depressed

if you could point me to the appropriate wal mart store i would be forever in your debt

thank you

Can you return an item that you received as a gift (with photocopied receipt+ originally paid with credit card)? Do you just receive store credit only?

Don't waste your time, shop elsewhere. I bought one last year and it was very uncomfortable. After a month of use, I returned it and bought one from Marks.

I believe they are "sample" products where the customers could sample it.

I asked someone in the candy department and she said it is not a regular item they carry. She said to check with her next week as she will ask the vendor when they will be back.

Not with a photocopied receipt. You are asking for trouble.

I am not talking about samples...the actual products meant to be sold...
