Hi there.
I have a question regarding The Bay's 15% seniors discount that happens on the very first Tuesday of each month. Is this 15% discount added on top of any item that is already discounted?
For example: If there were a cookware set that was 50% off. Would the 15% seniors discount be added to that as well?
Thanks.

I heard a radio ad this a.m. where they said it was on top of Bay Days sales - whether that means all sales, or just the current one, I don't know.

What did they tell you when you phoned them to ask?
FWIW most such discounts apply to "almost everything in store" including sale and marked-down items. Common exclusions include gift cards and other near-cash items, tobacco and prescription pharmaceuticals for which they may be barred by law from offering discounts, and specific items that they've highlighted in their promotional material. If in doubt contact the store and ask.

I have been watching Bay's seniors' day for years. I notice the price on seniors' day is not as good as the price on weekends. For example if they offer 30% off the marked price on weekend, they just take the 30% away on seniors' day.

The short answer is yes, the 15% comes off the posted or already marked down price. BUT often goods are not marked down on the first Tuesday. Various other promotions are not in effect on the first Tuesday. In that sense the seniors discount is a bit of a shell game. This Canada Day weekend, everything in the store was 15% off for everybody. As always, buyer beware. Compare prices on line and elsewhere, and don't let the seniors discount hook you.

From Fishface42--update. Today, the first Tuesday of July, I bought one pair of Tommy Bahama shorts at full price of $118, expecting the 15% senior discount. The clerk told me the 15% did not apply to non-Bay brands. Tommy Bahama, Hugo Boss, and a lot of other high-end labels have some special status at The Bay so that the Bay 15% does not apply. Ditto the Hudson Bay Room. I bought a Russian-style chapka [fur hat] there last fall and the senior discount did not apply. Back to the shorts. Since I insisted, the clerk gave me the 15% off anyway--still a very expensive pair of shorts. The Bay website does not answer to "senior, seniors, seniors day, senior 15%" etc. at all. So many customers are becoming seniors that I suppose they want to abolish the seniors discount entirely.

Does anyone know what the exclusions are for the 15% discount? Are Movado watches excluded?
Thanks!
