From upgrading various devices, I have multiple 2.5" hard drives of various sizes. What is the best way to utilize them, and are the best things to buy to utilize them, and from where? (best = good value, of course)

I have a:

250GB (7mm, 5400rpm)
320GB (7200rpm)
320GB (7200rpm)
500GB (5400rpm)
750GB (5400rpm)

Any suggestions?

With some 2.5-to-3.5 mounting brackets, use them in a NAS.

+1 for using them as a portable usb hard drive. the one i have tops out at a 34mb/s transfer, which is better than any usb 2.0 flash drive out there

If you are going to put them in an portable enclosure I recommend only using the 5400rpm ones as they are lower powered and generate less heat. They need to feed off the power from the USB port after all. Get the USB 3.0 ones if possible.

You can also consider putting them in a NAS and combine them so that you can use it as one disk. You can also install them in your system and run FlexRaid or similar stuff to do the same.

Or yeah you can sell it, if the price is right ...

Sorry, I'm not in the Toronto area.

The problem with external hard drives is that I don't need so many! I already used one in an eSATA / USB 2.0 enclosure:

The NAS idea sounds interesting... any particular NAS / brackets / store you would recommend?

A Photo Bank (http://www.espow.com/wholesale-hi-speed-photobank-support-2-5-inch-sata-hdd.html) (standalone SD => HDD copier)
Raid 0 the 320GB drives for a quicker main OS drive.

If I use a NAS, I assume the capacity will be the total space of the hard drives divided by 2? Which NAS / brackets would you recommend - they come with redundancy right?

i say sell them then buy what you want or need in your existing setup.
why spend more for something you have no use for.

If I had that collection, I would use them for movies, connected to a BD player.
