I have sold a few crafting patterns (paper) to the same lady in the US. She paid everything including shipping for each one of them. I am going to combine shipping so the shipping cost will be much less than what she had paid for. I want to refund some of her shipping money by using Paypal. Paypal has already taken a % of the total payment (total value + shipping) when the money came through. I wonder if they will refund me the % of the money that I am going to refund my customer? I want to be honest and give the extra money back on the other hand I don't want to get dinged because of my honesty. Can someone tell me how to do this correctly? Thanks in advance!

You receive the variable portion of the fee back for any partial refunds. You only receive the base fee if you send a complete refund.

Thank you very much for your answer! Knowing I will get the portion of the Paypal fee back I can now refund the extra shipping money to my customer.
