Hey everyone,

I'm not really that great when it comes to PC parts, but I currently have an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 and I'm thinking of upgrading to another NVIDIA video card with HDMI out that also outputs sound.

I currently have an hdmi converter plugged in to my video card that goes to my receiver and I use my TV as my monitor, but I'm also running an optical cable for the sound and I'm thinking I want to reduce the amount of wires running in my gaming room.

Can anyone recommend a good video card with the features that I'm looking for?

Thanks in advance. :)

What receiver do you have? It must be able to actually play audio through the HDMI. Some older receivers only passed the audio from the input to the output.

If it can play audio through HDMI, then pretty much any video card with HDMI can send the audio and video. If you don't plan on gaming, then a simple Radeon 6450/6570 or GT 430 will do the job. If you do play games, then any Radeon will do it. Some Nvidia midrange cards didn't AFAIK, but I don't remember which ones.

It's a Sony receiver, my Xbox 360 and PS3 are connected to it as well and it does transmit both audio and video. It's a 2011 model receiver, so it's still up to date.

I currently have my PC plugged into it as well, I use HDMI for video and optical for audio, but having too many wires is getting annoying lol.

I will check them out. Thanks a lot! :)

any video card with HDMI output will have both video and audio out to your receiver.
the cheapest gt210 has it too. i built a htpc for a friend with gt210 i connect the tv with hdmi for video and audio output.
i have an amd low end HD4350 with HDMI for my living room tv as well.
i personally connecting my sony receiver with my HD6950 in my bedroom

so its really depending on what do you use with ur pc.

Your motherboard (or sound card, if you're not using onboard audio) also needs to have the relevant connector on it to plug into the video card, if I'm not mistaken.
