I currently have bank checking and saving with TD, and a GM visa with them as well.

PC Financial banking is really good for no fees / free cheques, etc. and you can double with a PC Mastercard. both get you great points towards free groceries. I'm also on TD, with a credit card from Amex and MBNA. But if I was ok with starting completely over with my banking companies, I'd go PC or maybe RBC (for the new optimum bank account)

I like Coast Capital Savings and PCF, because they are free. If you are a student or willing to pay, I would go with RBC. I have found that RBC treats their customers the best, and I just liked how everything was handled there versus TD. As for a credit card, RBC has a good free rewards visa I use. I also have a PCF visa and also a TD cashback one. They all are relatively similar, and each benefit plan provides roughly equal benefits. It's nice to have a visa and bank account with the same company, as it makes it easier to make payments, they get posted faster/instantly, and in case you need to borrow money against your credit card, its very simple to do it online.

If you can afford to keep a minimum of $5k on deposit with TD/CT, ask them about a Select Service (https://www.tdcanadatrust.com/products-services/banking/accounts/chequing-accounts/select.jsp) account. The foregone interest will be more than offset by the value of all the stuff that's included in the package—assuming you have the $5k and you need the services. There have been several threads on RFD that discuss this account in great detail.
