View Full Version : PrePaid Telus Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate 4G $149.99 with $20 Activation Credit

I was at a local Real Canadian Superstore last night and they have the Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate 4 G prepaid with Telus for $149.99. This was in the little stand that displays all the prepaid phones (not in the "new" Mobile Shop that they have been opening in a lot of their stores to sell postpaid cell phones and plans). Also comes with a $20 activation credit - but it could be unlocked and used on other carriers as well.

Seems like a hot deal to me! This phone has a 4 inch super AMOLED display, 5 MP rear and VGA front cameras, WIFI, Android 2.3, can be used as a Portable Hotspot and a lot more. It's not a Galaxy Note or a Galaxy S3 but it seems like a lot of bang for the buck! What do you think??

This phone can run various custom ics roms easily.

May have a tough(er) time finding roms for it though.

Would this be a worthy upgrade from a HTC Desire?

I would value the 4G and screen size.

The sku from the little card that you take to the cashier is 629018068743. I'll try to post an image later.

It was at the Loblaws Superstore in north east Oshawa

Don't think it has the right frequencies to work with Wind...

From what I've seen this phone has a slightly bigger screen but a slower processor than the Galaxy W....this phone would be an outright purchase versus on the Tab with Virgin...actually, you would not have to activate this with Telus seeing as it's Pay-as-you-go...

What about ICS update availability?

For ICS, you would have to root and load a custom ICS rom. Most of the ICS roms are designed for the Fascinate 3g rather than the 4g.,

The RCSS store at Brock Street and Taunton Road in Whitby has two showing in the display case as of about 30 minutes ago...they are also having a "No Tax" day on Saturday July 21 making it an even more attractive deal!

Ok guys Apple just won against Samsung for this and the 3G version (samsung galaxy S 1)

So what will happen if we try to get warranty repair? Since SAmsung is not allowed to sell this phone will they replace it with a samsung galaxy 2? he he he

The decision was in the U.S. courts, not Canada so I don't see Samsung not selling their phones in Canada.

it is on sale at RCSS for 129.99 and no tax today.

Bought 2 yesterday and got themboth rooted and unlocked. (for presents family members)

Now to find a good ICS for them.

Was that the 4g version? If it is, it may be the same version that T-mobile had for a while.

My friend had a T-mobile version that was soft-bricked. I unbricked it but couldn't find too many roms that would work with his phone.
