Hey everyone, so my current video card (XFX 5770HD) has been serving me well up until recently. Out of nowhere it's beginning to get very hot while idle, and often freezing up my system a few times a week which is getting very annoying (and is a decently common problem with that card). After much research into the problem, I've decided to bite the bullet and treat myself to a modest upgrade.

So as a result I'm looking to buy an alternative card (which I hope to be a decent upgrade at least). Does anyone have any recommendations for a solid card that would last me at least 2-3 years as a casual gamer? I'm hoping to stay under $200. I'm not tied to AMD cards either, I tend to flip flop between ATI/AMD and nVidia every odd card I buy .

I'm sure most cards are now capable of this, but I'd like it to be compatible with 3 displays.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Hey man, I think this will fit your specs and needs. I have a i5 overclocked (better for gaming than i7), sapphire hd 6870 1gb, 16gb ddr3 ram, and i can run a game like bf3 on ultra with 30-ish fps. Any other game about 50 fps, which is good enough for me.

Oh nice, I didn't see those in my quick search. Thanks for the links!

You should post your monitor's current rez and your current system. Should result in better recommendations.
