Diablo 3 is the primary purpose. Would prefer to spend $400 or less.

At that budget, OP would have to buy a used system (no monitor, speakers, keyboard, mouse). There is/was a used system asking for $350 (was $400) with monitor in the FS section....med and high on new games with GTX 460 graphics. Needs a HDD (and OS?) however.

my hd 4890 for sale is recommended for diablo 3, and significantly cheaper then gtx 460 or any competing card. pick up a corsair powersupply, and your cpu/motherboard ram combo, and ur good to go. a core 2 quad system will play everything well and will be cheap.
