I'm young, Mech Engineering degree, with very good health. Currently working for great aerospace company. But really, really bored here. I would not mind the challenge to live somewhere up north, work on oil rigs and platforms and things like that. Does not have to be Canadian company, could be anything that pays descent (no need millions, but I believe those jobs should pay a little bit more than city office jobs). I also think that there are not many people willing to do that. People have families, love their city and their friends and are usually not willing to go on extended assignments to remote locations.
Any ideas where I can start looking for those "extreme" jobs?

Funny but nothing pays well. How could it be? For 99% of the people working in Antarctica would be unacceptable, yet it pays less than office job...

They don't pay a premium for people in their first year going to Antarctica (who often just go for the experience). They are already incurring losses because you won't have a clue what you are doing and may possibly quit early and return home. These organizations pay a premium to retain employees that are completely trained and know what they are doing.

Your living expenses are also going to be taken care of when you move out there, so that has to be factored in as a big part of why that salary would be lower.
