Hello, I am looking to get my dad on the Info highway aka Internet and I would love to know what is the best current deal for somebody like him who only uses Internet every now and then to read news and watch the occasional movies.
I would prefer to stick with a well-known company who has good tech support.
I am tempted to go with Teksavvy basic cable for $24.95/month with 25GB of data cap but if you guys know better deals, I am certainly all ears. Thanks!

Just a benchmark for you...we're paying $73 (taxes in) to Bell every month for the internet. I just talked to one of the customer service rep's to see if there were less-expensive options, and she was so rude. I would not recommend Bell to anybody.

I ended up signing my dad up for Distributel's cheapest plan. The d/l speed is supposed to top out at 3 Mbps but that's the least of my concern as my dad will have unlimited bandwidth for $32/month + tax. I purchased the modem outright for him for $54.99
One of my buddy's mom went through 99GB last month and that completely freaked me out. She's sharing the Internet with a bunch of people in the house though so I don't think she's the one using up all of that stuff but she does watch a few hours of movies a night.
Better be safe than sorry I guess, esp. for older folks new to the PC/Internet world.
