View Full Version : What can I buy at Costco US to resell here in Canada?

I'm actually heading to the US to pick up a floor jack and was considering purchasing a few Pioneer audio video receivers (one to keep and others to sell) as these sell for so much less in the US.

Any other products that are worth considering? :)

TIA.

Or anything else that is sellable here on RFD for that matter? :)

Electronics depreciate so much so I don't want to take on too much inventory risks.

I've had extra items that were left over from a reno project and advertised them on Kijiji with mixed experience. I've found that even at 50% off of list for a brand new item, people still want it for much less so unless you're selling it at 50%, you maybe suprised if it doesn't sell quickly. If you want to make money, the item has to be in high demand and the price point has to be very inviting. Right now the dollar is no longer at par, so it will cost you maybe 5% plus you may have to pay taxes on your return to both factors will cut into potential profits.

Are these custom duties exempt too?

This is from Arlington, VA last fall. Get a case of 24 for $18, sell for $2-3 each. Much less chance at losing money then electronics.

I agree. When I get a chance I head down to Costco in Kalispell, Montana and buy 4 or 5 cases of Mexican Coke. The same case at a local Mexican food shop here in town runs $40.

Seriously overpriced at $2 a bottle. In town here they sell it for $1.25. We have lots of Mexican field workers here.

Newflash, almost all pop on Canada is not made with cane sugar but corn syrup which isn't what people generally mean by "sugar".

I thought corn syrup in everything was a US problem. Going there to get stuff without it doesn't really seem like it would work.

If it says "glucose-fructose" on your can of pop, its got corn syrup. Also known as high fructose corn syrup.

Its to bad people in GTA have to go all the way to Cleveland to shop at a US Costco.

Almost have to make a vacation of it or the gas cost takes away the savings.

No it's not. Glucose-fructose is the Canadian name for High Fructose Corn Syrup.

You've posted this several times in a few different pop threads, and have been told time and agian that it is incorrect. If it says anything other then sugar (and only sugar) it's HFCS.
