No point. You have to have internet to use it.
If you have internet ... everything is there.
I have plenty of websites to download any program/series you want to watch ...
Why donate more to a company that is rotting???
Apple is going to be dead soon ...

If an Apple TV is made in the near future, I hope they make Bell, Telus and co have cold sweats and skewer them just like they did RIM and Nokia
Has anyone seen the new Rogers ad the says they we're the first company to bring cell phones to Canada then later the first to introduce BlackBerry, Andriod and LTE. Might as well ended with the statement "nickel and dining you since 1985"
Just look at the selection of phones before and after the iPhone debut in 2007

The endgame for any every consumer is to see more competition.

The internet sure is poorer without megaupload. Haven't found a widely used host that even comes close to MU download speed for free users.

I loved Nokia's innovation and openness to try something new in regards to style and functionality. And then we get the iPhone and now all phones looks pretty much identical :(

It would really have to change the way we watch and think about TV for me to even consider it.
If it's just integration of iTunes and other video services, meh.

But you are comparing apples and oranges here.
What you saw was a transition from dumb phones to smart phones after the debut of the iPhone.
The form was more or less dictated by the required function. As you need as large a screen as possible - and that means the screen practically occupies the whole front of phone, that leaves little room for anything else or any variations.
BTW, I prefer the "after".

What the guy is referring to is, the company are not taking risk with design. They all similar or copy i something. Samsung was sued by apple because apple claim the tab look like ipad. Then no ome sued Sony for the tablet p and tablet s.

Did they just release a new one I'm not aware of?
And isn't the apple tv priced about the same if not a bit less than its competition?

It kind of looks like they were trying a little bit of everything and now we have the same phone in 40 different shapes, and they are only different to avoid lawsuits.

they already have tvs with built in wifi.
i have a tv that has built in wifi with all these apps like netflix.
I can also plug in an external hard drive and go to folders holding my movies and select them off the tv.
the tv supports all the popular mkv codecs etc.
no more need for the middle man called the laptop.

My $.02.
If your TV is not WiFi capable, then ATV is good for Netflix and YouTube, etc.
HOWEVER, if you want to use it to access your iTunes stuff, I had this problem: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3919692?start=0&tstart=0
Before I found that link, I took my ATV to an Apple store, and the "geniuses" could not figure out why I couldn't access my iTunes library via Home Share.....
Apple seems to be slow on the mark to come up with a user-friendly fix/patch for this. Is this the new Apple post Steve Jobs? I hope not.....
Now that it's fixed, I now love the device again. For around 100 bucks, it represents decent bang for the buck.

the only correct answer is, depends on what it is exactly. I cant find anything beyond rumours, so it could be anything from a $100 50 inch 2304p tv to a $1000 20 inch 720p setup.

Also, iTV is not a product (yet).

Im betting you could use your Ipod / iphone as a remote like you can with the ATV, so maybe in that sense you can? Will likely have some integrated web browser. Speculation only of course.

No need to be combative. The existing product ATV aka Apple TV is what I had thought we were talking about, it's not a big jump to go from Apple TV to apple television. My mistake, no big deal. Surely, you can understand the source of confusion. Apple will not call this new product ATV or Apple TV since the name is already being used for an existing product.
