Hi everyone,
So my boyfriend is from Ontario and has an Ontario Driver's License. He just got a speeding ticket (125 km on a 100 km highway). He's only there for few weeks for work. Is it possible to fight this ticket without physically going back there for the trial day? Will it affect his insurance in Ontario? Thanks

OP, if your boyfriend is convicted in Manitoba then the Ontario MTO will find out about it and his insurance in Ontario will be affected. I'm not sure about the traffic court system in Manitoba but he could choose to fight it himself in person or designate a 3rd party to do it for him.

I would agree it will be applied in Ontario as soon as he is convicted and his insurance will be affected accordingly.
Where he got the ticket is important. If he received it in an urban area like Winnipeg Brandon or virden he might as well plead guilty and pay it. Manitoba has traffic court with a circuit judge and he has no hope of a procedural error being accepted or the officer not showing.
If he was ticketed in a rural area drive back and attend the arraignment. Being from out of province the odds are exceptional the crown prosecutor will offer a payment to the salvation army or local charity to drop the ticket and keep the case off his workload.
