OMG. Where did you get this dish? It's Singaporean cockles. I've only had it in SE Asia and it's AWESOME!

blood clams, yumm

best way to cook is to grill them and top with fresh prepared salsa, caramelized onion, crushed peanuts

Well I was having it in SZ and the person I was with ordered it, lol! when I opened one how come it looks raw and yes the bloody juice oozing all over the place.
popped it in my mouth as it and the taste was unforgetful. haha.
then I dipped it in some vinegar sauce and it was much more palatable.
so these are Singaporean cockles. Will keep this in mind when I have them again.:)

so these are not available in North America?

I haven't been able to find it in Toronto. Closest thing to it are clams but it's night and day to me. These are pretty darn good with chili (spicy) sauce.

i have to admit when i opened one up for the first time, the look and all that blood juice did not look too appealing. maybe should have taken some pictures and post them up as well. lol!

I think next time to have them cooked and tossed in some chili spice combo.

There are many names for that type of clam.
But one thing for certain is that they are not "Singaporean"

BTW, thees are quite rare in Canada. But there are truck loads in Asia, particularly in regions like; Taiwan, Southern China, Hong Kong, Vietnam....etc.
