View Full Version : Recommended auto shops for body paint?

I have a few scratches on my rear bumper that require sanding down then spray painting and several small areas where the paint chipped off from the hood from rocks etc. Does anyone have recommended auto shops? I'm located in Markham if that makes any difference. Price is not really an issue, but obviously cheaper is preferable. Thanks!

That's actually a bit too far for me for such a minor fix, but thanks for the suggestion.

I've read good reviews on 360 Auto services, and iGarage (have no clue where this is) but I'm not sure if these garages do body paint?

& Yao, where is chipmaster? I've read good reviews on that too.

What's your point, there are plenty of people asking if their speeding ticket will affect demerit points or insurance when there's a STICKY on top of this forum.

I asked 360 Auto Service and Chipmaster for quotes, 360 Auto gave me an estimate of $250 where as Chipmaster gave me $350 estimate. Should I try iGarage next?

since u are doing small parts, ask if they are blending or repainting all. Also, if they blend, will the blend the new clear or clear the whole panel.

They're redoing the whole bumper, when I only need a few areas that needs to be fixed (sand/repaint). I asked both garages and they said same thing.

If anyone's curious on how minor the damage is:

it makes sense go do the whole bumper since its different places. it will be the fastest method.

Is it? I emailed to chipmaster and this is what they said:

Hi

Thank you contacting us at Chipmaster.
Here is the estimate for you.

The body shop that told you your bumper would required being refinished completely was right.

Because there are so many different areas, it only makes sense to refinish the bumper complete instead of trying to blow in the many areas. This way the bumper will look like new again, with no foggy hazes where the blow ins would occur.

For us to repair your bumper and refinish it the cost would be $350

It will look like brand new again!!

Does anyone have a picture or some sort that can give a good example if the repairs were in sections of the bumper instead of the whole thing? I thought doing specific sections would be faster and less cost efficient. I don't need the whole bumper to be done because the rest is good. But if this is the only option, wouldn't it be better to just leave it and anticipate future damages to get the entire bumper fixed then? Cause on a scale to 10, the damages that I inquired about are only affect 1-2/10 of the entire bumper.

EDIT: Chi @ 360 Auto Services says it will take two full business days to do the job, and at $250.

blending takes skill and time. if they mess up and blend isnt good, its not good for business and customer.

have you went to chipmaster in person? i think the light scratches could be buffed out and the other side can get a simple blend......

No I haven't, I only went to 360 Auto Service in person. I emailed the pictures because they had the option to (not much auto shops have the option since most prefer to see it in person). And yeah I was thinking the same way, I mean the damages aren't severe nor are they deep either. The paint scratch on the left side is VERY light. Looks like you can just spray paint over, and done. Other side may require some sanding down since the metal is exposed.

But I will go in person since I'm heading to iGarage tomorrow as well. I'll see if their estimates vary from email pics. Will update tomorrow.
