I'm wondering if you guys have ever tried Giordano's (http://www.giordanos.com/) in Chicago? If so, you'd know what I'm talking about!
I'm looking to find a place in the GTA that might have this type of pizza, but the only place Google came up with was a restaurant in Hamilton!
Does anyone know of any in a closer vicinity of the GTA? Any help would be great, TIA! :)

I'd like to know too.
Spiro who used to run Chicago Pizza Kitchen up in Vaughan did the best deep dish that you can find here period. Now he's running the Cabbie food truck downtown.

A bit further west, but I've heard decent things about this place: http://www.feedyourdragon.com/Mickeys/Home.html (Site needs a major update though )
Hoping to try it soon.

This place is awesome. Their pizza is sooo goood. Pricey though. They have a unique oven too. I prefer their deep dish (regular oven though).

If you make it to chicago again, look up some different pizza places. Giordano's isn't really...good....chicago pizza.

Lol, much closer than the place I saw in Hamilton (I'm from east-end GTA)!
Lol, thanks guys, I'll take a look over there sometime :) :)
Btw, squall, what's the deal with the oven?

I actually might! It was my first time there over Easter long weekend and I was just there for the weekend so I didn't have that much time to really look at other places. I was super wow-ed by it though, but then again, I've never tried pizza like that either.
Do you have any recommendations for another place?

While I'm sure it was a low end Chicago-style pizza, I was in O'Hare airport during a stop over, and decided to try one in the airport. Safe to say I don't recall the plane taking off or landing back in YYZ hahaha.
I wouldn't mind trying it again, sub'ed this thread.

thanks for letting us know! I too was looking for a deep dish place in the GTA but they're rare. There was Parlour Deep Dish in Toronto but they had no physical presence just an online delivery service but that closed too.

I've been to Chicago, had the pie at Lou Malnati's and Pizano's.
I haven't found a place in Toronto with such a pie.
I read about the place in Mississauga.....Mickey's (Feed your dragon) place. Drove out there to pick up a pie when I was in the west end. Got home....despite people's positive feedback on forums & posts.....not close to Chicago pie. Crust is doughy, not pie-like like it should be. Not enough filling.
I am saving my cravings for Chicago deep dish for the next time I am in the windy city.

Here's the mickey's pizza - the staff in there were great when I went in. I told the one guy that I found out about it from here and he tried to cut up a piece of his pizza for me to try a different flavour, really welcoming.
The place is a bit of a hike, but I enjoyed it. I haven't been to Chicago yet to compare though. It was extremely filling (I usually eat a full large pizza, with this I was stuffed with half)

Its this large open concept oven. It cooks the regular pizza so fast and evenly. Its basically a large circular disc that rotates I think. You gotta see it in person to get it. Great pizza!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this isn't exactly "Chicago-style" pizza (personally, it looks more appetizing), but I definitely want to try this place next time I'm in Chicago:

To each their own.... I love pizza but Chicago style pizza makes me sick to my stomach. My family and I once waited an hour for a table in downtown Chicago for their Chicago style pizzas. Everyone was swearing how delicious it was and that it needed ample time to cook and get ready.
After all the anticipation and waiting, we ordered and patiently waited some more. Despite being ridiculously hungry, we took our first bite only to be grossed out and couldn't even finish half of the pie. Just my opinion but it was gross. The crust was super thick and hard. And way way too much cheese.

Out of all the ones I've tried I'd agree.

Argh, I'm in Mississauga for work today, and they are closed today - they are filming for the Food Network...

Chicago Style Pizza Shack in Hamilton makes better Chicago Style Pizza than some of the places I've tried in Chicago.

Here's a place, but it seems to be all dough and crust...not much of everything else. (Maybe I should order double toppings?)

Update:
I have found one place in downtown Toronto that is pretty close to Chicago deep dish.
http://www.parlourdeepdishpizza.com/
It is available in the bar only at Trevor Kitchen, not in the main dining area.

Is it really worth $30?

It's $25 if you dine-in. Considering the size of pizza, it can satisfy between 3-4 people. It's comparable in price to a pie in Chicago. It's much cheaper than going to Chicago to get pie.
